    • We have lost the key in the key fob and need to program a new fob. Is there any way to program a new fob without the key from the key fob. All the instructions online require the use of a key -( I don’t even see a key hole). Thanks in advance.
    • Hello Ctgriffi. fellow 2013 owner here. Car looks great, made me want to give mine a bath to keep up but its cold & rainy here. I'm at 172k without any problems except with replacing a bad 12v battery with another bad 12v battery until I got a good one. [both via Ford dealer] There has been a lot of speculation concerning the failures of the C-Max transmissions & the causes. There was some reports of failures that involved ones used as govt. vehicles in the Phoenix, Ariz. area. Whether the cause was bad builds, high operating temp. conditions, or improper upkeep are all up for debate. The facts are the C-max came standard with standard fluid subject to heat related losses & without a dip stick for checking level far too many non-Ford service centers & owners assumed it was a non service item [know this from personal experience]. I assume you have had the trans fluid changed as it is a service item at 150k per owners manual. Any C-Max owners out there reading this should look into changing their trans fluid & making sure level is checked at every oil change [per owners manual] regardless of what their service tech tells them. Sorry for the long reply & Thanks for the read. PS. My last two Fords [89 Festiva & 98 Taurus] lasted 350k & 400k. i was driving 40k-50k yearly for work but now retired. I hope & believe my C-Max will out last me, 5-10 yrs.
    • One more small update. Looks like we have confirmation on what the latest calibration is on these modems. Had a user post a screenshot from FJDS over on the CyanLabs' forum and looks like UP is the latest calibration level which I know some of us are already on. Although now with a lot of EV functions being removed for us, it's not as big of a deal as it once was.   https://community.cyanlabs.net/t/tcu-waiting-for-home-url/13279/16
    • I'm drinking my victory beer tonight.    The punchline:  right rear brake pads were installed backwards.  Inboard was outboard and vice versa.  That gave the outboard brake pad two anti-rattle springs and the inboard one had none.  The pad that comes with the spring on the top is the inboard spring.  The one that needs you to clip the spring on the outside of the caliper after you tighten the caliper bolts is the outboard.   The longer version:  the wife was in the hospital for two months, I found myself a single dad overnight trying to run a business and the kids and the household and deal with lawyers and police and court dates and in a moment of profound weakness I decided to let the local garage work on my car to try and lighten my load some.  I usually never let other people work on my cars ever.  I had posted in January 2023 how the rotors had developed unusual wear and corrosion because I was hardly using them trying to boost my braking score and driving like a saint.  I knew the rotors would come off kicking and screaming and they sure did give those guys a terrible hard time.  They earned their flat rate pricing that night.  I clearly remember when I went to pick up my car the guy was swearing up and down at the last rotor he had to do that just would not budge.  It was the right rear.  He was good and worn out an hour after closing as he was putting the last wheel back on and clearly ran out of new swear words to teach me.  In his exhausted state he got them reversed.   As near as I can tell as the anti-squeak slowly wore out and rolled up into an orange booger and fell off the rattle got worse and worse and worse.  I can't tell you how many times I inspected the brake pads to make sure they were not sliding fore-aft and they weren't.  And when I checked them one last time today sure enough I found the culprit.  If you pull the rear wheels off, look down in the top of the caliper.  If you don't see the spring inside that top hole in the caliper, your spring   Anybody in the market for a pair of slightly used but otherwise perfectly good rear swaybar end links and shock absorbers? 😉  At least I don't have to worry about the upper shock absorber mounts cracking for another 6 years.
    • My guess is it either has the 3G modem or the older 2G modem before that. 3G is more likely since that was a free upgrade but I have heard of a few rare cases where it wasn't done (and useless to do now. Ford won't even allow installation of the 3G modems now). 4G most seem to have skipped. Probably the easiest way to tell is download the FordPass app and add your VIN and it'll tell you either to activate the connectivity functions or it'll say the vehicle doesn't have it. There's also checking the modem ESN from the about screen in Sync but I can't recall which letters/numbers indicate which version offhand.
    • Welcome, the forum is back alive!
    • @Roadguyser good to know, thanks for the FB.   We're at just over 158K now with no major problems, although mpgs have steadily crept downwards, year by year, which is probably to be expected. Anyway, hoping to make it well into 2025 and then replace at that point!
    • ptjones thanks for the data...My 2013 C-Max SEL has 98K miles with no issues to date.
