I have the type 2 FOB which has a panic button on my Hybrid SEL, so the type 2 remote is not exclusive to the Energi.  I do have the remote start option which came with my car, but guessing it is probably not a very popular option.

I don't see why a type 2 wouldn't work in a regular hybrid, but aren't they really expensive? (my dealer told me they were $500 to replace)

Thanks for your input.  I'll check on the price; $500 seems a bit steep.

Ya, when you consider what a cell phone is.  Even the best retail without subsidy for <700.  And they communicate much further on many bands, have wifi, not to mention a processor and screen....

Remotes that can control TV, BluRay, cable box, stereo are much less than that.  Shoot, my cell phone also can control all my entertainment devices.  We need an app for the cell phones that can be coded for our cars.

My (former) Ford dealership continues to amaze with their flee-flowing steam of misinformation.  It appears from the Ford parts website that the hybrid FOB is $85.  However, it doesn't state whether it is a type 1 or 2.

I want to buy a spare Type-2 Intelligent Access Key (aka FOB) for my plain-vanilla SEL.  On your car, does the panic button work?

As to the $500, the dealer probably thought you were asking about the remote start system.

The Fob has 5 buttons:   Remote start ; door lock ; door unlock ; trunk unlock and panic.  Everything works as it should.

I'm assuming the panic button merely triggers the alarm circuit.  Wait a minute....is there an alarm on this car?

What happens if you press the panic button?

Hi all, was reading the forumn about panic alarm on key, I have it on my key and it does come in handy when looking for car. Mine is a SE with the Nav package and Winter package.

Do you have the remote start option on yours?

To answer Bill's question the horn goes on and off until you push the panic button again.  It is LOUD.

For a more delicate "where is my car in the parking lot?", double click the lock button.  The turn signals will flash and the horn will sound briefly.  You don't want to give the old guy walking past your car a heart attack.

I suspect the remote start option includes the module or relay that triggers the panic horn response.  So simply adding a type 2 FOB might not work.

No just the Key , but do have a security alarm in the car. On the key only four buttons: lock, unlock, hatchback, panic. Will remember about pushing the lock button down twice in the future to look for car, def do not want to give anyone heart attack. We have enough things going on in New Orleans, Lol.

Now here's a panic button that would have been useful...
