B Pillar Door Trim

Over the last couple of weeks I have started to hear a squeaking from the black, plastic door trim on the b-pillar. This squeak happens when I close the door. Nothing has fallen off and it doesn't look damaged. I was wondering if anybody else hears a squeak when they touch their b-pillar door trim. No other car I own makes a sound when I touch that area, so it makes me wonder about the car's assembly quality there.

The B-pillar trim pieces on all 4 of my doors will squeak a little when you press on them. When driving, they seem to squeak more on hot days. I haven't taken the time to try to isolate a particular spot on the trim that's making the noise. If I find it, I'll see if there's some way to quiet it.

Just an FYI, I had a piece of weatherstripping (?) on the drivers rear door that worked loose on mine.  It was the piece between the windows attached to the rear door.  I noticed an increase in wind noise coming from that area.  I pressed the piece back on securely and have not had a problem since.

I've had the same experience.

My driver's side B-pillar trim started rattling after the dealer did the 13C02 recall. Grrr! My car was rattle-free before the recall and there are still not rattles on the passenger's side. It's worst driving on bumpy streets at relatively low speeds. It also appears to get worse on warm days.

For those of you who are having the wind noise - open both front doors and check the weather stripping on the back door where it contacts the B-pillar.  I had an issue where the rubber weather stripping wasn't gliding smoothly over the paint and it was rolling up when the rear door was closed.

When I took delivery of the car, the rear door appliques on both sides were scratched. The weatherstrip on the left side sanded the B-pillar when closing and got roll-up occasionally. The weatherstrip on the right side sanded the b-pillar when closing and got roll-up all the time.

Last week I got both rear door appliques replaced. The left weatherstrip reinstalled. The right weatherstrip replaced.

Now the weatherstrips just touch the b-pillar (the dealer call it C-pillar). No more roll-up.

My Avg MPG is 40.3

I love my car and the dealer service is better than I expected.

+1

Dealer "adjusted" the L rear weather strip where it slides on the B pillar.

No more wind noise.

Had the same problem also caused the rear doors to be difficult to close.  Applied WD-40 silicone lube to paint on outside of B pillar where contact to rubber is made and doors practically close themselves now. :happy feet:

I still get the wind noise. It's annoying. Sitting on the passenger side is nice and quiet so that tells me something isn't correct on the drivers side. I have checked and rechecked and still come up empty.

Let your dealer look for it, they really are good at finding/fixing hard to find stuff like this.

Wind noise? It is terrible. Much louder than in the 2006 Impala I drove in the past and about which the testers were complaining. In my 'Max it is loud from as little as ~50mph...

What about the cross winds? It is really challenging to drive C-Max on a windy day/night...

No wind noise here, but I did experience the rolling over of the weatherstripping issue - some silicone tire gel seemed to cure that.  the LR door is still prone to not closing completely if only lightly pushed - will investigate and lube further - thx for the suggestion - it didn't occur to me that the weatherstripping could be the cause

Were the windows closed when you had the rear door closing issue? These and all quality modern cars are pretty air tight. I've had this happen too.

Interesting; I have exactly the same experience with the same door.  But not enough to worry about.
