Phone Installation

I ordered a ProClip for my cellphone.  It is the version that mounts on the passenger side of the console.  Up to now, I have been using a temporary connection via a charge cord that I plug into the connection inside of the arm rest.

I am not going to do the installation of the wiring harness.  I would rather take it to someplace for a professional installation.  If this were a regular car, I wouldn't worry about trusting the installers to know where to elect to make the connection.  However, this is not a regular car!

My goal is to make the connection always hot/on.  I do not want the charge of the phone to stop when I shut down the C-MAX.  So, where are the connection points that would work the best, and make the exposure of the charging harness show the least?

Here is a picture of where the base will be mounted.

Did the install yesterday.  Looks just like yours, except they ran the cord between the seat the and console, so the cord is more hidden.  They snaked the cord inside of the console, and they put the power pack in their, too.  So, the wiring is pretty clean.  I'll take a shot of it tomorrow, when I go out.

I elected to go with the standard installation, where the power is only on when I have the C-MAX power on.

Hmm, I'd like to see a picture if you could.

I just have a usb cord plugged into the console and hangs out in the groove between the console and the lid. Didn't use a power pack or anything.

ProClip comes in a number of configurations.  So long as you are using the mounting for your particular phone (not one of the universal models), there is a version includes the connector for power in the base.  When you slide the phone in, it connects.  No dealing with the separate cord.

I'll take the pic tonight.  Of course, it will only have the base; I'll be using the phone to take the pic.

Very pleased with my ProClip mount.  Mine is up on the MFT portion of the dashboard, on the left side in front of the drivers A/C vent.  Helps keep my iPhone5 cool as well.

ProClip photo is the mounting base, before install of the phone attachment.  ProClip1 and ProClip3 show after the phone attachment install.  You can see the wire going between the seat and the console.  The next step will be to tack the wire down better, and I may paint the wire to match the console color.

Thanks.  I understand now.

I opted for the adjustable one (doesn't have power), as I was tired of buying a new one every time I changed phones.

this is the connection point I'm using for my iphone5 using the thunderbolt connector mount to the proclip base.
