Question about remote start install...

I have:

 

Pursuit Series, Model PRO-9776C

5 button remote start security system with plug-in shock sensor and starter disable.

 

F-, would not buy again.

Can you roll the windows down while the car is remote started with OEM module?

Ok, so the OEM bi-directional (and unidirectional) both operate as follows:

 

1. Start with locked car.

2. Push the button twice on the remote start vob.

3. Car starts (with Bi-Directional the remote will beep after it receives confirmation from the car).

4. Walk up to Car, pull door handle, car unlocks and door opens.

5. Car shuts off.

 

This scenario also happens:

 

1. Start with locked car.

2. Push the button twice on the remote start vob.

3. Car starts (with Bi-Directional the remote will beep after it receives confirmation from the car).

4. Walk up to Car, unlock door with key fob button.

5. Car unlocks.

6. Open door with handle.

7. Car shuts off.

And remote start active will be displayed.

Press the brake and the start button as normal to drive the car

I just called the local Ford dealership (where our CMax was purchased) to inquire about adding remote start, and surprisingly enough, they do not install Ford OEM systems. I was told they've found those to be too problematic. They install Viper or Avital systems instead. Again, I was very surprised by that.

 

In any case, if they're the ones doing the install, I think I can reasonably assume they'll do it correctly. They're a Ford dealership after all. They have to know how the CMax is wired, right?

 

I'll absolutely check back to let you know if we decide to have one installed, which one, and how well it works (or doesn't?).

Our dealership uses an outside contractor to do all the alarms/remote starts.

 

After talking to him today, he says that our unit is not compatible with the keyless entry system.  I'm in the process of figuring out what to do.  I told my salesman that I didn't just want the alarm unplugged; I wanted the whole system removed so there wasn't extra wiring and modules still hooked up to everything.

 

What I'm hoping is that the entire system gets removed and we get just a remote start.

Supposedly, the only systems my local dealer uses are systems they know to be compatible with the existing keyless entry and alarm. For what it's worth, they did say that since I have an SE (which means no push-button start, or "magically" opening doors and lift-gate), that expands my options as to what's compatible. 

Most of the time, I wish I did have those magical features, because they're very cool sounding, but this might be one time when it comes in handy that I don't.

I really love having the keyless entry and the push start ignition.  I guess the installers didn't know the system wasn't compatible.  

So do I. Looks like I did the right thing building my car with remote start. (I have the keyless entry and push button start). Haven't had any problems with the factory installed version. I espiecally like being able to progrm the heat and the defrosters to come on during remote start.(set  for 15 min run time) It's coming in handy now with snow and ice in the mornings , to come out to a warm defrosted car ready to drive without having to go out and start and turn everything on first.

That only happens if you have the factory installed remote start, not w/ the Ford OEM accessory add-on.

Only if you had the option.  I did not have the option when I built the car.  On the order form I filled out, it was an accessory add-on by the dealer.  In addition the first printing of the manual states built-in factory remote start is an energi only item.  So some people had the option available to them some didn't.

 

I should mention I haven't had any problems with my remote start either.

The Ford OEM unit can be installed post-factory, though, right?  I'm guessing the alarm and remote start system are integrated with my current set up so they'll probably have to remove the whole thing.  I'll want the OEM module if possible.

 

The factory option gives you one FOB (for door unlock and liftgate open, etc), and integration into the cars display left of the speedometer.

 

The dealer option gives you a seperate fob for remote start w/ no integration into the displays, it just simply starts the car.

 

They are all made by Ford (at least the ones I'm talking about).
