Front door handle problem

The reply from Ford is normal. The advisor said it is waved and advised me to wait a while to see how worse the "wave" become.

When I first got the car, it got 8 miles and the sheet metal is perfect.

I checked the others in the dealer, most got waved. In general the driver side is worse than the passenger side. I think it all depends how many times the door had been opened/closed.

I think the handle is too far away from the edge (frame) of the  door so the force of closing the door waved the sheet metal. A design fault.

Will take picture later.

That's odd!  I'm in and out of my C-Max all day long, everyday. I use it for work and the doors get heavy use.

I haven't experienced anything like this on my car :camera:

Mine are like this as well.  I was told is was from stamping during the manufacturing process.  Looked around and saw a lot of brand new F-150s like this.  I chalk it up to the poor quality control/design of Ford.

I agree with Edsel.  I noticed a very slight flaw in ours too, once we got it home.  Talking with a premier bodyshop guy, he also called it a very common design flaw that shows up in stamping a large 'flat' surface.  Living with it is no problem for me - as long as it stays slight.  Nick

Here comes the pictures of the waved sheet metal right under the driver door handle. (actually waved right under both ends of the handle.

post-1395-0-43715200-1381043169_thumb.jpg - See the images of the tree and the white lamp post. On the unwaved surface, the lamp post is straight.

post-1395-0-15768500-1381043335_thumb.jpg - When the white lamp post is over the waved area.

post-1395-0-41552600-1381043489_thumb.jpg - When the white lamp post is over the edge of the waved area. See the size and the depth of the waved area.
