Auto Climate control changed... Not what I like.

Just back from the dealer for the last recall, while there, I had them check my Auto/climate controls, as no air is coming from the Dash out lets, seems the last update to the computer (mileage adjustment) changed the way the Climate delivers  the heat, when starting the car in the cool weather, all the air is going to the windshield, and out of the small port on top next to the side windows, and down to the floor.

To get the air to the dash, one has to push the buttons!  That's the way it is, and can not be changed back to the way it was when I purchased the car. The  mechanic  had a talk with me, and he called Ford directly, giving him the run down. If you turn the temperature down, to what I call cold, the air will come from the dash.  All this has something to do with the difference in Temperature from the outside and the temperature inside.

I have several gripes about the climate control.

It's Automatic

It's also Dual Zone

BUT it is not Automatic    Dual Zone :drop:

Our last 2 Fords had set it and forget it, now every time we get in one of us has to adjust the temp knob, UNLESS it's the driver then the passenger has to adjust their knob.

Yep! The AUTO climate control is designed to change zones based on temp settings. Nothing has been changed. It's just the way you are using it with different temps.   You'll need to push the buttons to get it to the zone you wan't if it's not going to it in AUTO mode.  This is normal.

That's why they have the buttons. It's called manual mode.

Similar to what happened to us.

We fought with the dueling thermostats

(the passenger temperature changes to the driver's temp a few seconds after each start)

for the first few months of ownership.

Then by accident we discover what turned out to be a glitch in the system.

One night I left MFT displaying the environment screen with the thermostats set to two different temperatures.

The next morning they didn't revert to the driver's temp...

hhmmm maybe we're just getting in the habit of setting the thermostats EVER time we start the car.

Paid attention the next start  :yahoo:  it works!

Then a few months later the update, glitch found and fixed.

Now within seconds of EVERY start the passenger temperature changes to the driver's temp setting

and

THAT'S the way it's designed AND will not be changed! :nonono:

Even here in the summer, I've found auto a/c will divert air to other vents including the floor when I'd rather have the center (face) vents 100%.  Driving in sandals, the toes can get pretty chilly when it opens the floor vents.    It typically switches back before I get uncomfortable.

DrDiesel1,  Last winter it worked the way I liked it, all automatic, but with the computer upgrades they have done away with the auto, now it is as you say, the temps inside and out will make the adjustments, and it also takes another extra mile to warm up so the heat will start on the window. I guess I'm getting too fussy in my old age!
