Factory fog lamp install

Recommended Posts

I am considering adding the ford factory c-max fog lamps to my c-max SE but was curious if the vehicle has the wiring already in place to make it happen. I understand that I will need to buy the lamps, housing and switch's etc. My main concern is the wiring. Did ford include the same wire harm in all trim levels of the form C-Max. The exception would be the C-max energy which mine is not.

I believe so since some of the SE dead battery failures were apparently caused by water intrusion into the fog-light wiring harness.

Just bought my '14 C-Max and the dealership (salesman after checking on it) that there is no accessory offered by Ford regarding installing fog lights in the SE.  I too have the SE and would like fog lights since I live close to the water and we get very dense fog in early morning and evening/night.  But wondering if the fog lights make a big difference in those conditions?  I've had some cars that the fogs were amazing (like my '10 Escape), and others where they made no noticeable difference.

I bought an inexpensive set of fog light kits for my SE online and I'm about to install them after I get yellow H8 bulbs.  It comes with everything I need.  I tested it out with the car battery and it is working.  However, I'd like to know the best way to run the switch wires through the firewall and to find a Positive wire under the steering column which is only live when the car is on.

I have a 2014 hybrid and wanted fog lamps because I drive where a large number of back roads and animals like to hang out. I want to see if there was a stowed set of cables for the plugs but there wasn't any to be found. I ordered a set of fog lamps from eBay in a kit which was inexpensive and it came complete. I connected the ground to a ground under hood and spliced power to the running lights then ran the switch the sent down the finder to the door and on to the side dash. If you choose to connect the second power wire it is for the light on the switch. Green on red off. I covered it with a small peace of tape so I can see it but it's not super bright I am thinking of splicing it to a OEM switch I found on eBay as well. Over all they work great. I up grade to led bulbs in all three areas head lights hi and low and fog and all is well. No issues

I have factory lights and the headlights also have to be switched on to use the fog lights, I think being able to switch them off and on independent of the headlights might be beneficial for you anyway.  I don't get enough FOG to really tell a difference where I live.

OK I have the 06 TJ, it is factory "pre-wired" for fog lights. I do have the wire harness inside each fenderwell but I do NOT have the goofy fog light switch on the steering columb lever.

I am planning on adding just rocker switches for the lights but I dont know where the factory wiring harness goes from the fenderwells, I lost tracking it behind the firewall/heater/ac ductwork.

Does anyone have a schematic for this or know where it comes into the fuse pannel?

I can purchase the OEM fog lamp assembly online, and also able to find the SEL headlight switch to replace the SE version of switch. I think the best approach to go through the Body Control Module (BCM) for proper wiring. I assume that SEL will have extra wires from its switch and lamps to the BCM, but I doubt the BCM is completely different from the SE model. Hope they use the same part number, just additional wiring for SEL.
