Order to Delivery Time Thread

Its always agonizing the endless wait to take delivery of a Special Ordered Vehicle.  I usually do it anyway and just grin and bear it.  Not so bad when you "Pre-Order" a New Model Vehicle say in Mid-Spring or Early Summer and its going to be the (next) MY when it arrives.  To wait 3 months and take delivery in late Summer of the current Model year when the (next) Model Year is going to be launched just a few months later is unexceptable.  The 1st Model Years depreciation is the same if you took Delivery the first month they were launched or a month before the next Model year is released.  Nice to have at least 6 months driving (under the belt) before you get (belted) with the huge hit of 1st year Depreciation.  The MY 2014 will be coming off the assembly lines the beginning of Dec just 4 months  away.  Last day to order a MY 2013 C-MAX is Fri Aug.31.  If one waits that long, why not wait until Sept 18, and await a 2014 that should arrive in MId Jan of 2014?

If you have the lots of time, you can do the same search your dealer can do from Ford.com, and you can see the actual Monroney sticker listing VIN and options for each car.

You won't get invoice price, or the exact location of the car.

If the dealer you select first does not have the vehicle in inventory, the first dealer you select will still get your inquiry if you submit one about a specific vehicle.

I quickly found 16 2014 C-MAX's listed in Blue Candy, using zip code 48235 as a starting point (Detroit), starting at $23,185 net/$25,685 list (SE, Equipment Group 200A, Blue Candy, Winter Package) and topping out at $29,735 net/$32,235 list (SEL, Equipment Group 302A, Blue Candy, Panoramic Sunroof, Remote Start). Another 100 or more C-MAX are in inventory, but NOT in Blue Candy.

"Net price" is final cost after all available financing and rebate incentives that you might or might not qualify for, but before taxes, dealer charges, and license.

Model: C-MAX Hybrid SEL (302A)
Original Estimate: 8-10 weeks
Ordered at Dealer: 1/8/2015
Changed Order: 1/15/2015

VIN Received: 1/22/2015
Window Sticker Available: 3/3/2015
Build Date: 3/9/2015
ETA: 3/23/2015

Arrived at Dealer: 3/24/2015

Pickup date: 3/25/2015

They're selling them as fast as they can build them.  They just can't build them very quickly.  Hard to understand for a car that isn't selling worth a darn.  Should've just done a dealer trade, oh well.

Got about 85 grand more cash laying around?

The only new cars available are limited to what is already in dealer inventory across Canada (and the US, if you could import a US model.).

You won't be able to order a C-MAX built to your specifications, because all C-MAX Hybrid production permanently ended in June 2018.

C-MAX Energi plug-in Hybrid production ended in December 2017.

In the US there are many 2- and 3-year-old off-lease Ford Certified Used C-MAX cars at about half what a new one cost.

The 2018 we bought in May was one of three dealer courtesy vehicles they has with about 2,200 miles on the clock. The lease incentive was great.  They have one left which is surprising, and one new model, both in white. One or two blue ones the dealership had ordered sold quickly - though it's been a rare color to spot on the road.
