Power lift gate "duh" moment

Recommended Posts

I love the hands free lift gate feature and use it a lot; especially when grocery shopping.   While unloading at home, I usually touch the convenient close button on the upper left side of the open gate; however, the last items are typically the heaviest and/or cumbersome (large bag of bird seed, case of water, etc).  Well, it finally dawned on me to try the kick feature to close the door.  DUH! :banghead:   Works like a charm.  <quietly leaves room>

The kick to open / close is great.  One of those features that once you have you wouldn't want to live without.  My wife had our dachshund at the vet one day this week.  When returning to the car the dog was on a leash and they walked behing the car.  The dog walk under the rear bumper and opened the hatch (wife had her fob in her purse).  My wife said she stood there and laughed.

FYI lowbar....the kick close also works while you are bent over, half in the car and the cat rubs against your ankles.  On the plus side, the feature that stops the lift gate from crushing you works just fine!

For about the first two months of owning the car, I didn't realize the button on the left side of the open door was there to close the rear hatch.   To close the hatch, I awkwardly reached up to push the button above the licence plate.  Now that's a "duh" moment!

I guess the kick feature is good if you have your hands full, but I find double clicking on the fob to be easier.
