for racking up a mass of 40 plus MPG tanks.

40 tanks to be precise, and all greater than 44 MPGs. !!!

Wow, that's excellent. We're still on our first tank and jut put on 330 miles with half a tank left. My drive last night in 65* weather got me just under 45mpg @ 67mph according to the readout. Man, I'm loving this quiet, solid, car. If my wife can keep her foot out of it we might be able to hit 600 miles on the tank.

RobMax - jus remember to take a pic and we will be more than happy to add you to the 600+ CMax Club. Take a look at thread - we have a LOT of drivers hitting 600+, so much for the lowly MPG numbers from the toaster review company who are FAMOUS for buying their own toaster so they have no undue influence.

Hey Nick - I jus had a thought....is it possible that these toaster reviewers got a :hi5:  promotion to be test hybrid car :rating:  drivers? May be so....

Yes Jus, I think you nailed it - so little difference between a toaster and a sophisticated hybrid, ya know - I can just see it, 'hey you, get over here and drive this 'hybrid thingy' around that loop over there and back; and make it snappy'. ;) ;) ;)

Drove to Whistler, BC last weekend and got 46 MPG uphill to 2200 feet in elevation FCOL !  (and that included some AC & about 10-20 minutes of idling at the border too - I keep forgetting to charge the battery higher approaching the border, Argh, it still got us a good 35 minutes of ICE free idling)

Nick

(OBTW, spectacular scenery, and a fantastic ride in the C-Max (it loves the winding mountain highways even more than the lowland freeways !!!))

...that is awesome  . This confirms everything us ole timers have been saying and saying and saying...this is a 47MPG car and I bet you were not even trying to squeeze every MPG out of it as well. That reflects all my trips to Mammoth and back where I average 45-47MPG round trip.

So, if I apply to Consumer Report to be a toaster reviewer, do you think I might make it past the front door? I am very good at disguises...Zorro, Spiderman....CMax Man.. :flyaway:

"and I bet you were not even trying to squeeze every MPG out of it as well"   You are somewhat right again Jus.  Although I was ECO Cruising (& ECO Socking) 68 mph quite successfully Seattle to Vancouver; I had a 'bad' ECO drive up the Sea to Sky Highway with all of the less familiar hills and speed changes for tighter turns, not to mention the eye popping scenery to enjoy (Howe Sound, Coast mountains........Black Tusk .............).  Happy to just keep it on the road in a few places.  Lots of aggressive driving around there too.  ATC, a beautiful road to drive, but my 'ECO driver rating' going up was no better than a B.  Improved my driving (& MPGs) coming back down, ECO driver rating back to A- perhaps, making it into Vancouver at almost 50 MPG cumulative.   Lost some MPG the rest of the way home with about 100 miles of AC. Net trip 460 miles, 48.8 on the gauge (approx. 47 pump).  (((coulda, shoulda, woulda - 51/49)))

(BTW, filled up south of the border to save a couple bucks, and our Fuelly is now at the magic 47.0, nice 'rut' to be in)    :love_shower:   our C-Max !!!

Hmmm, are we broken in yet at 9400 miles ?

Nick

(Always way, way, way more 'ECO Cruising' (& 'ECO Socking') than 'ECO Saucing')

(( BTW - EPA '37 MPG Highway' - Absolute & utter nonsense !!!!!!   Just let the car do it's thing - ECO Cruise to 41,43,45,..........))

Went on a day trip this week to Cannon Beach and Seaside OR.  Its about 1hr 15min drive from our place.

Was expecting about 45mpg since we had to drive over the coast range mountains.  On the trip over there

we got slightly over 50mpg with no AC.  Maxed out the hybrid battery a couple times.  On the trip back

we got about 48 running the AC.

Nice. I can't wait to break ours in over the next 1-3k miles to see what other MPG improvements we can get. Took my son to soccer practice last night on 60/40 hwy/local and it said I got over 48MPG in high-60s outside temps.

9400, broken in ICE - imho and Matt will back me up with what he has seen, I would confidently say: wait for it....NOT YET. You'll see MPG improvements all the way 30,000. My number this summer is BETTER than last summer at the same time and same route. Yeah, I got gas pods now - surely that is not the difference? ICE, definitely. I am running about 70% to 78% EV per tank in the city so my ICE is hardly use and my lifetime is showing a little bit more ICE use at approximately 55% EV miles overall (I think, I need to check) at almost 35,000 miles on the odo. Jus enjoy the car Nick, screw the MPG...no need to prove anything except toaster reviewers can't drive real hybrids even if they paid for their own car and drive in a circle..-ouch - :runaway:

7 out of last 8 tanks over 600 miles ! 48.5 lifetime MPG !

You must be in California - OOPS, wrong, sunny Maryland.

Kudos for not 'reading the memo' about 37 MPG, and buying your 2013 C-Max last January.
