Specific question about CMax wheel compatibility

Greetings -

I am a potential CMax owner and have a question about wheels.  We are looking at buying a lightly used 2013 CMax SEL.  My wife and I have talked about maybe swapping wheels just to make the CMax a tad more sporty; our preference is to use another Ford OEM wheel rather than an aftermarket wheel.

From what I can gather there are several Fusion wheels that have the same bolt pattern - 5-108.  We like (what I gather to be) part number DS7Z-1007-N.  When I spoke to the parts department at the Ford dealer he told me that he couldn't guarantee compatibility.  When I asked why he said that there might be clearance issues with the calipers, etc.  He said he wasn't certain that they were incompatible, but that he wasn't sure they were, either.

The wheels are non-returnable.  Obviously I don't want to buy wheels that won't work.  Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?

Also, when I was looking at the Fusion wheel part numbers, there were two - one described as "type 1" - the other described as 'type 2."  The type 2 wheels were significantly more expensive.  Any idea what the difference is?

Thanks!!

You might have better luck going onto a Fusion board to ask questions about the Fusion wheels. In addition to the bolt pattern, you need to find out what the offset is on the Fusion versus the C-Max wheel. If you dig around this board, I *think* there is a C-Max wheel thread that discussed the offset of the C-Max wheel. That would be critical to know.

One other thought - check and see if the Fusion hybrid runs the same wheel as the C-Max (it might). If so, that might be a good starting point for comparing offsets too.

Site sponsor Levitown Ford has this link to drawn illustrations of available wheels for 2013 Fusion listed under Repair Parts, Suspension & Steering, Wheels, but no cross-reference of OEM part numbers.

The 20-spoke Type 1 has spokes grouped in pairs, and is available either polished or painted.

The 20-spoke Type 2 has spokes evenly spaced, similar to the C-MAX wheels, and is available in painted finish only.

Additional wheels are listed under 'Accessories'.
