Very weak AC Problem

Used the AC this afternoon for the first time in our CMAX. It was barely cool and the air blows out pretty weak. You cannot feel it at all unless you hold your hand against the vent.

Tried on auto, manually set and max AC. Didn't make a difference.

What's funny is that it is actually quite loud when turned up all the way. Based on the noise you would expect a hurricane in there.

This is my second ford hybrid and I also have an older Prius so I'm confident it's not just a hybrid problem.

Anyone else have an issue like this?

Filter is clean, the car is brand new. The vents were definitely open. I even closed all on one half to see if it would increase on the others. Didn't really make a difference.

Here's where it gets weird. I get in my car after lunch and it was blowing super hard and super cold. Really not sure what was happening earlier. I will probably stop by the dealer if it happens again. Maybe a blend door was stuck or something?

It almost sounds as if the A/C froze up. You might have the dealer check the refrigerant level in the car.

Just a thought.  are you sure you activated the vents...

there are several buttons,  one for the floor vents, once for the dash vents, and another for the defog vents.

If you have all three selected  then you are efficiently sending the air every were.  if you nly have one selected,  say the dash vent,  it will direct all the air to the dash vent only.

I would think that this migh be your problem  if you are not getting the flow you think you should be..

Solution is most likely to remove the built up dust in the Cabin Air Temperature Sensor! After spending $400 at the Ford dealer to do the TSB (which I had done already other than the Freon collection and recharge) I found that the Cabin Temperature Sensor had accumulated dust. Using canned air I directed the flow into the fan blades of the sensor and a large cloud of dust puffed out twice! Now the cold air continues as expected. Also do remember to change the cabin filter. Mine was quite disgusting. Good luck.

Updated 6/10/21- The issue where the driver side air was colder than the passenger side was determined by the Ford service department to be due to dirty temperature sensors. There are more temperature sensors than I was aware of that needed to be cleaned. Problem solved by Ford dealer service department.

I have always had 99% positive results from using the Ford Service where other service providers 50% at best.

Just changed my filter (2nd time I think!) and it was more than disgusting.  Pulling the old one brought out a pile of gray stuff on the carpet- goodness knows what.  It was all chocked in the filter and had to be vacuumed out of the filter chamber.  Maybe it was "moon dust" from Craters Of The Moon National Monument!  I guess it's just another example of why you folks, as I've said before, should NOT buy the SnowStorm Service Plan!  A/C seems fine though.
