what are these recalls and how urgent are they?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I logged into my Ford account to check on the status of my car and was surprised to see 4 recalls listed. The restraint control module I was contacted about and will be addressed tomorrow, the other 3 I've never heard of and there isn't much description provided. Anyone know what these are?

FSA Title: FUEL ECONOMY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Field Service Action Number: 14B03

FSA Title: 12 VOLT BATTERY TEST AND MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE

Field Service Action Number: 15B04

FSA Title: SYNC WITH MYFORD/MYLINCOLN TOUCH - WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM)

Field Service Action Number: 12M02

Thanks

FSA Title: FUEL ECONOMY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Field Service Action Number: 14B03 second rebate check notification (stale)

FSA Title: 12 VOLT BATTERY TEST AND MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE

Field Service Action Number: 15B04 new this week

FSA Title: SYNC WITH MYFORD/MYLINCOLN TOUCH - WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM)

Field Service Action Number: 12M02 generic warranty extension message (stale)

Input bolded. Act on this as you see fit, but the 12V is the only one I'd worry about if I had an SE and/or 12V battery issues.

Right, just to be clear, the first one relates to whether you got your rebate check or not (so you'll know if it applies to you), and the third can be done online or by the dealer over the phone (which is what they did for me).

The second is the only significant one, and as fbov says, only significant to those with battery issues or potential battery issues.  I'm of the opinion if it ain't broke don't fix it, so unless you are experiencing said issues I wouldn't worry about it.  But that's just me.

If one doesn't respond to all recalls, could you jeopardize your warranties?

Recalls are federal notices regarding safety. Ignore them at your peril, but they have no impact on warranties.

The notices in this thread regarding fuel efficiency rebate checks, dead battery problems, and SYNC issues are voluntary. Depending on the particular notice, the service action might expire. In any event, they also do not in any way impact the original warranty.

Ford could do a better job of explaining their notices. Even ETIS does not name the 2013 Cmax Hybrid SE properly - referencing it as a 2014 Energi. Someone should file an action claiming that their 2014 Energi (according to ETIS) is a year older, and gets less than half of the promised mileage. That incorrect description finally would be corrected post-haste.

ETIS is not the official Ford US owner site.

owner.ford.com is the official site.

My understanding is that ETIS is the site for European Ford dealers -- which is why US models do not show up correctly.

Just for fun I looked up the two sites and who owns them:

owner.ford.com -> 23.6.173.96 -> Akamai Technologies, Inc. (AKAMAI)

www.etis.ford.com -> 136.1.62.29 Ford Motor Company (FORDMO)

Akamai is a commen hosting company, often used for high usage sites.

$1.00?!

Um, who are you really, like Marty McFly?  Next thing you know you'll be ordering a Pepsi Free.

And it's not 25 cents to make a phone call anymore.  (Actually, in point of fact, you'll probably be interested to know they don't have pay phones anymore.  But that's too complicated to go into right now.  Just take your life jacket and move on).

Next you'll be telling me that I can't go to McDonalds, buy a Hamburger, Fries, and a Drink, and get change back from a dollar. Hmm... what about 5 cent Hershey bars, can I still get those?

You should be able to if the serial numbers don't match!

As to phone calls, mine average about 25 cents.  10 cents a minute.  $8.33 a month.

Someone pointed out to me you actually *can* get a cup of coffee at Mickey D's for $1 -- the cup is the size my doctor asks me to pee in, however, and the coffee... well, it also has some similarities to that experience.

So I stand corrected (which, to continue a theme, is also the position I have to be in when... well, TMI).

Should their be a new forum of FSA Title: 12 VOLT BATTERY TEST AND MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE

Field Service Action Number: 15B04? Would be interesting if this is the FIX to the 12 volt battery drain. With detail information of informing everyone know what year, model, and options they have on their car.
