CrystalSC Posted November 19, 2012 Report Share Posted November 19, 2012 Has anyone found the USB and AUX ports inside the armrest to be an awkward location? This is the one thing I thought seemed strangely placed when I looked at the C-Max. If you plug your phone into the aux port with a cable, can you close the lid of the armrest or will it bite into the cable? Do you want a long cable hanging out and stringing across the seat or console? I know it sounds like a minor thing but I listen to my iPod 80% of my time in the car, not the stereo so it being conveniently placed and easily accessible is important. I use the USB ports for flash drives to play music but the position of the drive makes them easy to hit when putting items into the box. I am worried that I will hit it and snap something. I would have put the ports somewhere else and oriented differently. This is why I plan to convert my flash drives to the SD card which is completely protected. kuenai Posted November 19, 2012 Report Share Posted November 19, 2012 Cabling: there is a small cutout in the lid, towards the passenger side, that is large enough for two or three cables, so you can leave a cable plugged in there and quickly connect/disconnect your phone or ipod. The downside is that the natural place to put said device is in the cupholder right in front of the armrest, which only leaves one cupholder free. If you need both cupholders to hold cups, then there's not another place to put the device that won't leave a cable dangling and in the way. On a separate but related note, the lid only unfolds to the straight up position, so if I'm in the storage digging around, it's awkward to put my hand into it from the driver's side. (My elbow can't go straight back because the lid is in the way.) For me it has not been much of a problem, as I just reach around BEHIND the open cover, and my forearm and hand then fall pretty naturally into the open compartment. But even though it's comfortable, it seems like a strange arrangement. It seems like a horizontal rear slide opening would have been better, or at least have the hinged lid open 180 degrees, not 90 degrees. The SD slot is just to the left of the USB ports. Normal use is for the navigation card but since I do not have navigation it is available for use just like the USB drives. I think it is standard if you have the MyTouch screen. So if you have the 2 USB ports then the SD port should be there as well. The link below will show a photo of what it should look like.
