A few questions about my just bought used Hybrid.

I just purchased a used 2013 C-Max Hybrid and I LOVE the car, its fully featured and drives well. I do a have a few questions about whether my vehicle has problems.

The first one is, I noticed the car does not have the "foot activated" hatch, after doing some research, this should be a feature on all SEL models of the 2013 hybrid? Or this Energi only? I looked at the owners manual and it states as long as it has an intellisense key (which I do), it should work? Is this something I will need to get fixed or not a feature?

Secondly, I noticed the car will always go into gas mode once the battery on screen has 35% left, I know how to drive the car to keep it in EV mode, but no matter what the car will kick into gas mode with this amount of battery left, I can play with the pedal to get it back into EV, and then it shortly goes back into gas. It seems like the battery capacity on this car is already used up quite a bit, or is this just normal behavior for this car?

EDIT: FYI the car has bout 37000 miles on it, but I figured the battery would not lose 35 percent so quickly.

You can enter you VIN online (don't have time to look up link) and view your window sticker to see what options you have (foot activated hatch is not standard on 2013 MY SEL).

There are many write ups on the battery symbol displayed and the actual State of Charge of the High Voltage Battery and how the car operates.  If someone doesn't explain or find the links, I'll do it later.  Your car is operating normally.

The key to getting excellent mileage is to take your eyes of the empower screen and keep them on the road.  Gentle does it on the gas pedal and avoid sudden stops--i.e. try to anticipate when you need to slow down for a light.  Let the car figure out when to shuttle between EV/Gas modes rather than doing it yourself.  And use the ECO cruise as much as you can, even in the city.

You need equipment group 302A to get the rear camera and foot-operated power tailgate on the SEL model.   After a year-and a half I prefer to use the FOB to open the tailgate.  The foot thing is finicky and really only useful when you have a load of shopping bags in both hands.  The camera, on the other hand is useful if you can force yourself to stop cranking your neck around and looking out the back window.

Congratulations on buying a refined and rewarding car.
