Well, hang on.   As long as the car is self-driving, maybe when you are not using it, it can help earn its keep  - as an Uber cab and doing Amazon deliveries.

Nice idea but then why buy one.  Just pay for Uber when you need it.  Sort of like living in NYC without the city and/or high prices.

As reported elsewhere, a big concern with self-driving cars is that THEY ALWAYS obey the pre-programmed rules, such as speed limits and 4-way stops.

Human drivers do not!

Interesting thought, particularly with some of the comments on this board about how driving efficiently can upset drivers behind you.I can see other drivers getting really upset sitting behind a self-driving car.

Rather odd, how trying to drive properly, legally, and efficiently is often viewed as a bad thing in our society.

I really liked the article.  When I went to driving class for getting a speeding ticket the police officer teaching the class said something similar, something like you can count on being OK at 5 mph and usually 10.  So I have set the cruise to 72 in a 65 so as to not worry about tickets.

As I recall, I did get a speeding ticket in Massachusetts for 10 over, 35 in a 25.  The ticket that got me into class was something like 42 in a 30.

It probably helps not getting tickets being in a C-Max and american built utility car, verses a sports car.

LOL, I've been hit twice now by self-sleeping and self-cellphoning driven cars. I'm all for taking these idiots out of the equation by giving them cars that are obviously smarter than they are behind the wheel.
