New 2015 C-MAX SEL hybrid owner here from Florida (will be used as toad and primary vehicle)

Hello to all.  The wife and I just bought a new 2015 C-Max SEL hybrid.  We'll be using it as our primary vehicle but also as a toad behind our motorhome.  As a primary vehicle, we love it so far.  It's a good looking car and a pleasure to drive.

As a toad, we have our fingers crossed after reading a long thread on this forum about towing four wheels down.  I'm having a Blue Ox base plate and battery charger installed in a few days - after reading that thread, it's clear that a charger is a must for these cars.  My brake control is a RVI BRAKE 2.  I'm confident that the battery charger will eliminate the dead battery issue and I'm also confident that my brake control will work well.  However, I am concerned about the steering wobble that a few people on this forum have experienced.  If I experience that wobble, it will be a deal breaker for using the C-MAX as a toad.  Like I said, we have our fingers crossed.

HI and Welcome.

Sorry, not much help here in giving you ideas for towing. Not sure how it is set up but not using the C-Max for a number of days without use should not be a problem.  I have left mine for well over a week with no start issues.   Sounds like maybe something with your setup drains the battery while it is towed?

Congrats.   You will love the car.   I put an extra 5K miles on it this year because I look for reasons to drive it.    :)

We will be towing a 2013 C-Max this year also.  What parts were needed to keep the battery charged.  I heard this can be an issue after towing for over two hours.

Welcome keeper & ichrvready.

Lots of good towing info here: Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing

Hope they work for both or you,

Nick

ichrvready you'll need

12 volts and ground from your MH, hopefully you'll have 12v on the mh 7way plug, it should.

Here's the cable/plug kit we use from our mh to the cmax.

This is our charge wire from the 6way on the cmax to the 12v battery terminals under the hood (12v battery is in the back).
