I have a 2013 C-Max Hybrid SEL and am interested in keeping track of where I drive (I'm making a map of where I've been in 2016).

The car obviously has a GPS somewhere to support the EV+ mode. Is there a way to get access to that data and record it? Would it show up on the OBD-2 port?

You can get it from OBDII with the free Forscan software (search for other posts about Forscan and OBDII interfaces).  The GPS data is in the APIM (Accesory Protocol Interface Module).  You can get Heading, Latitude, Longitude, Speed, Fix (whatever that is) and Altitude (which reads 0 for me).

Several possibilities for data logging & / or mapping.  ForScan is likely the best data logging software, Torque Pro another.  (I have not been able to download Forscan for unknown reasons.)  Smart phones, tablets & laptops are the most popular medium; Scan Gauge 2, another option.

Finally got around to messing with Torque Pro in just the last two days.  These GPS readings are rough - from idle inside the garage, but look 'reasonable'.  On the road I would expect the "GPS Accuracy" gauge would show more around 50-100.  Lats & Longs display not really useful to me - just a test.

If you have a smart phone there is software for tracking.   I have not done this but I have seen others that have done so.

Does the non-nav C-Max really have GPS?

Yes, I have non-nav 2013 and I remember seeing one of the menu screens which showed my latitude & longitude.

Don't know if the current sync version still allows this.

Absolutely.  That's how EV+ knows when to kick in.

You can pull the GPS data out of the OBDII port with an appropriate adapter and the Forscan software.

"Where am I" shows longitude and latitude (Home -> compass -> Where am I).  It used to show altitude, but no longer does; perhaps a casualty of SYNC 3.8 update.

Bill-N, your right about losing altitude in the 3.8 upgrade. I really need to have access to the altitude data.

APIM module has altitude.  A Smartphone and around $25 or less for an ELM327 and APP gets you altitude and the ability to access DTCs and other data.  ForScan.org

You can download several free apps to your smart phone that will give you altitude.
