But last month we had our first dead battery, we thought it might have been the lights but we honestly don't think that we did. We jumped it and took it home, no problems, then two days ago we tried to start it and got nothing, we saw a yellow wrench on the dash that said check manual, error message stating it was the power train, we jumped it to see if we could get it to start, and it finally did. Thought we'd have some luck will the end of the week when we could get to the dealer but again we faced the same problem. This car just passed 37000 miles, 1000 past the 3 year 36000 basic, are battery issues/drain covered by the the 5 year power train? I assume since its part of the car responsible for starting it , it should be. Has anyone had any hassle dealing with this with the dealership after this point? I just wanna know before I go in there what I should expect the dealer to do. On a side note, anyone who suffered this issue in the past, did past recalls fix it? maxine Posted September 22, 2016 Report Share Posted September 22, 2016 We have two CMax, a 2015 and a 2013. I bought the 2013 used and had a dead battery after two weeks and another after 3 months. After the last dead battery, I changed one thing and have not had a dead battery for going on 6 months. I turned off the climate control/fan every time I parked the car. I had left it "on" the night before my second dead battery. So, you might try turning everything off before leaving the car overnight (or whenever you park it) and maybe that helps. I also bought a battery tester that plugs into the 12V spot to test my battery and the charging system since the second dead battery and every time I am getting a good reading. I remember one post where the battery was healthy (tested) at 1 a.m and then dead at 6 a.m. The best advice I have read it to buy one of these new lithium-ion battery jumpers for $50-75 and throw it in the trunk. cmax-nynj Posted November 7, 2016 Report Share Posted November 7, 2016 (edited) Absolutely, the Lithium Ion jumper helps and it fits in the door pocket. Lately my Torque App shows a steady 14.5V while driving. I remember it would dip into 13.x Volts before but not anymore. Lower voltage means there is less charging going on. Is this an indication of weak 12V battery? My 12V battery was changed once in 2014. I believe only the dealer carries this special size battery.
