Left front turn signal stopped working but bulb still works.

The bulb turns on when the door is open, but turn signal (front driver's side) clicks fast when engaged and does not turn on.  Is this a switch or fuse problem?  No other issues with lights.

 

I'd prefer to fix myself rather than take it to the dealer, I'd appreciate any insight.

On a Ford, the turn signal running fast generally means there is a bulb out somewhere. If the bulb is working it means a short somewhere else in that circuit.

A fast clicking bulb usually means the filament is burned out for the turn signal.  It will still light because it is a dual filament bulb.  One for the running lights, one for the turn signal.  Check both the front and rear bulbs to make sure one of them isn't burned out.

The bulb does not blink at all when the turn signal is on (inside it makes the faster click, but the bulb does not turn on).  The rear blinker still works.  The bulb turns on when the door is open (running lights).  If it's the circuit, is this something I could fix, or would I need to bring it in to the shop?  can anyone confirm if it is a dual filament bulb or not?

Our 2013 owners manual, 3rd printing says it's a 3457AK.

If you have small strong hands you might be able to change the bulb without removing the headlight housing from the car.
There's a 3" rubber cover over the bulb base, it comes off easy.

thanks wab, but again, the bulb will turn on if the door is open, it just won't blink, so I want to make sure it's actually the bulb and not something else?  I guess I can replace the bulb just to check. . .

Here's the issue.  You have a 2014 and the 2014 owner's manual lists 2 bulbs - one for the turn signal and one for the park lights.  Can you see two bulbs through the lens of the headlight assembly or one bulb with a dual filament which is what the 2013 owner's manual shows.  See the attachment below from the 2014 manual showing the 2 bulbs.  I can clearly see the dual filament bulb in my 2013 C-Max.

Turns out it is a dual filament bulb, so the same bulb would light up when the door was open but wouldn't light up when the turn signal was on.  Considering that there's something like 4 bulbs there, amazes me that they need something so complicated.

 

In the end, changing the bulb worked.  Thanks for the help.

I have the same problem, but when I replaced the bulb, it still didn't work. 

Then I noticed a burn mark on the old bulb contact strip.  (Couldn't attach image).

 

Is this normal?  The rest of the bulb looks ok.

Damn. I had the exact same issue and my bulb looks exactly like yours with the melted plastic around the contact. I didn't even had to buy new bulbs since the bulb itself is not burned out. Could have just freed the contact (wasted my money). Looks like another Ford flaw. (like the swollen lug nuts)

 

Anyways, I put in a new bulb and it's working again.
