Sync with services came free with my IMAX SEL with my Ford touch/navigation. You register with syncmyride.com. It allows you a certain number of operated assist using sync. The operator will give you help finding a place, they will find restaurants etc. You speak to a live operator that gives you most any information ou need. After the initial free period which on my 2013 was three years. On the 2015 it is more like a year free. You have to register every year even though it is free. After the free intro period it is fairly expensive as I recall. Go to the sync tried site

The one year free service trial expired on my 2015 C-Max in April.  I renewed the service for $60.00 because I use it pretty often.  Even though my navigation map is the A6 version,  there are locations which are not on the map, or new restaurants, etc.  You are given 20 free operator assisted calls with the first year of trial service, and then an additional 20 calls each time you renewal the services.

The unused calls can be carried over when you renewal your services as long as you do it before the expiration date.  Because I had unused calls from a Ford Edge which came with 3 years of services, I now have 70 calls or so still available.

Services can be used for navigation (they will send the directions to your car), business search ( again, directions to your car or they will text you the information such as address, phone, etc), weather, sports scores, news, gas prices and locations, and a few other features.

For $5.00 a month, I think it is well worth it for my needs.

What are you guys talking about? How can you have navigation without having navigation? Are you talking about just using your phone? If so, what does that have to do with Sync?

I have used syn via the live operator when my navigation could not find an address. The operator will give you turn by turn directions.

My understanding is, if you use Sync Services and call an operator for directions, they can download the turn by turn instructions into your head unit (even the basic one).

Sync services is useful and I have not yet had to call an operator for directions. My general rule is (1) find a location first through the Sync iPhone app and then download it when I get into the car. (2). If I forget or do not have time, I then try to find the location by using verbal commands for the navigation in the car. (3). If verbal navigation commands and spelling name fail, then I contact Sync services. However, in the few cases I have done this, the computerized instructions have then manged to find my destination before I turned the task into an operator call. Thus, I have used the voice operator only a couple times and then mainly as a cheap long-distance 411, when I needed to contact a business out of the area and did not know the phone number while driving and could not find via the Sync navigation system. (The navigation sometimes shows very bizarre phone numbers for businesses that are really not the main number.)

You guys. The owner.ford.com site is telling me something that isn't true, correct? Last update to Myfordtouch SYNC 2 was February 28, 2014?

I updated to version 3.8 in Oct, 2015. I'm thinking 3.6 may have been about Feb. of 2014. I finally updated to 3.10 a month ago, the dealer did it for free under FSA 12M02.
