Traded in my 13 C-max for a 16. At about 7,000 miles it developed a strong thumping noise when going over even modest bumps. Never had that in the 13. The dealer said it is normal but I don't think so. Feels like something loose/broken in rear suspension. Any ideas? Any related TSBs?

No such noise on my '16! Take the dealer for a drive in your car, and then in another C-Max they have on the lot to prove it is not normal.

Try taking it to another dealer.

Or may be the noise is coming from the rear wheels.

My 2013 C-Max had similar thumping/bobbling noise during low speed bumps and dealer applied TSB 13-9-9 (superseded by TSB 13-12-9) to my rear struts.

(Note that TSB 13-9-9 & 13-12-9 originally applied to front struts, but I believe they were later updated to include rear struts.)

More info at these threads:

Not sure if the above would apply to the 2016 model, but it might be helpful to point these TSB's out to your dealer. They do not appear to be very time consuming, so it might be worth a try.

At under 30k miles my 2013 developed a noise from the rear going over bumps.  Dealer replaced the rear shocks.  Warranty ended; noise did not.

So I replaced the rear sway bar links; immediate cure.

Bought the links from Amazon:

OEM $18:      https://smile.amazon...uct/B009B5T6VO/

possibly better ("Improves on OEM designs") $24:    https://smile.amazon...duct/B00K6KXEKM

In the interest of science, I put on one of each.
