I have a love hate relationship with them, I enjoy being lazy, but I don't like sitting and not moving.

Over the weekend i went and got in line at the McDonald's to get my son a happy meal. Nice warm day, windows down no climate control.

I sat in that line for 20 min before I got my food.

I've done this waiting in line for a car wash on the first warm day of Spring, The C-MAX at least runs the engine for a little while to get a decent SOC.

When it used to happen in my '07 Prius it was annoying because that car -would not- run the engine long enough to get a decent SOC - it would just leave the HVB in a low SOC and keep cycling the engine off and on when you pressed the accelerator until you finally got going in traffic.  I never had a problem where it would not start because of it but really unnerving when the car was doing that repeatedly in bumper to bumper gridlock traffic for 20 minutes.

..............After about 15 min the SOC was about 20% and every time I let my foot off the brake the ICE would instantly fire up and would run for about 1 second after coming to a complete stop............   .................It was kind of neat.

I could not agree more - nothing worse for gas mileage (& the planet) than ICE idle charging, theeee worst.

As far as your co-worker - ding him with EV quiet.  :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:   We all need sound retraining.  ICE idle noise is not good 'white' noise.

Nick
