Battery Charging Symbol

Recommended Posts

Let me say I'm new here and did not see another place to post this question, since the battery charging symbol is not in the infotainment section of the car.  But I couldn't see where else to post it.

We've had this car for 4,000 plus brand new miles, and the other day, for the first time ever, an arrow-ish symbol appeared over the battery charging symbol when it was charging, and then under the battery when using battery.  Now that arrow is gone again.  I read the book and all I learned is that over the battery means it's charging and under means it's using.  Duh.  But the book didn't say why I don't have the arrow at all times.

Anyone know the answer?

I haven't checked with the dealer yet.

Thanks,

Sharon

Look at the last couple of bullets on page 117 of the Owner's Guide.  You need to configure the instrument panel to display Charge Assist.  I'm assuming that somehow it got turned off?  You can turn it on and off per display mode too, like on for Empower and off for Inform, so maybe you have it on for one display and off for another?  You can choose the "Apply to all screens" option to turn it on or off globally.

Thanks, but it was turning itself on and off.  Happened a couple of times now, and we DID NOT adjust any settings.  It just happened.

Anyway, drove to the dealer yesterday since I had a couple of questions, and asked about that.  He just looked me like I was stupid, how did you not know that you did that on your settings??  I told him we DIDN'T adjust the settings, it just happened.  And that was that.  He didn't offer any explanations other than the obviously you are stupid look and don't know what you're doing.  We've had other wierd things happen in the computer system.  He really didn't offer any help at all.

Bummer.

Can you post a picture of the error?

This seems like something that does not really need to be an option.  The arrows are very unobtrusive, and I can't think of a reason not to show them, other than some minor confusion initially.

Osie, have you tried doing what ZHack suggested and just set the option on globally, to see if it disappears again?
