Latest Sync 3 Update

Recommended Posts

Ford just released an official update to Sync 3 for 2016 vehicles including CMax Hybrid and Energi. You should be able to download it from your My Ford site or you can use WiFi to upgrade with this release.

Here is a link that shows the features:

Just installed it.  I've been using the 2.2 version that was available through the forums.  This newer version has better menus and more features depending on what your car supports.

You installed Sync 3 on your 2013 C-Max?  How?

No ... I wish.  I recently bought another CMax - 2016 SE Hybrid.  I've seen posts of people replacing the head unit on a Focus, so it is probably possible, but requires a major hardware upgrade.

Yes, I am now the proud owner of 2 CMax hybrids.  The 2013 SEL has 100K now and the warranty ran out.  I found a new 2016 SE for 17K with Sync 3 and couldn't pass it up.  My wife is driving the SEL and I'm using the new one as my commute car for work.  Getting even better mileage with 2016 using the new ECO mode.  I'm averaging 47.2 MPG for 1200 miles the month of May.

Nick, how were you able to upgrade to the final factory version of Sync 3 from the unofficial version? I checked the Wifi upgrade section in my car and it said it was up to date. When I checked the Ford website, it said I was up to date and that v2.2 (from the unofficial forums) was confirmed in January/February 2017.

I updated manually to latest version of 2.2 using the image available on owner.ford.com.  Before it was available I used one I found on a Ford Focus forum.  Honestly not sure where it came from but it worked.

I also found the unofficial one on the Ford Focus forums back in December. What does your build number say currently?? If you have the official version, there should be no "_PRODUCT" at the end of build number. I went to the Ford owner's website, but it said my system was already up to date and no download links were available.
