Need more leg room.

Hi. I need to know if I can cut off part of the 2013 C Max center console next to my right knee? I need more space. It’s too tight. The gas pedal is also too close to that center console wall. Most cars I’ve been in have the gas pedal a bit away from the center.

I’m wanting to buy the 2013 cmax asap but I need the space to spread my legs a bit more.

I’m just trying desperately to figure this out. I love the car and it’s nearly perfect for me. And with the gas savings that’s huge for me considering I’m on ssi and ssdi and don’t have much money for gas. Right now I have to gas up between 150-180 miles. With the c max that would be twice that or more.

I wonder if my right leg needs to get used to the different position. The muscles. And the break. It’s so sensitive. I barely touch it and the car like slams to a stop and you’re jumping forward like out of the seat belt. I need more break resistant to have to push a little harder.

But gosh I love the car. I just don’t know what to do.

Ok. I decided to purchase the car. I test drove the 2013 Ford C Max SEL. I think it had most or all the upgrades.

I don't know if you already bought the car but I would look for a 2014 or later for the probability of a transmission problem is less.  Lots of other posts on this.  But if you already bought it, there are a lot of people enjoying their 2013s.

I’m getting it later today. It’s 2:38 am pst. The car is certified and comes with a warranty.

I’m going to try to get used to it.

Is there anyway to adjust the break? I tried same car and year at another dealer and the break was better. Not as touchy. Why the difference?

I would think there’s a way to adjust it.

And is it possible at all to move the gas pedal to the left a bit? It’s like behind the center console. It’s right next to the wall and I think the center console even has a slight bow do the gas pedal is behind it a bit.

I’m just trying to figure out if there’s any possible way to get my right knee a bit more room.

I don’t care about wires or anything. I’d just secure them.

You could try attaching a piece of flat material, such as 1/4 inch plywood, to the surface of the accelerator pedal. Cut it to fit an inch or so wide on the left side. This should help you maintain pedal control with your foot held an inch to the left, too. But be careful that you don't get too close to the brake pedal, and cause pedal confusion.

^^^^ Thank you so much. That’s a good idea.

I bought the car today. I have to have the seat all the way back and then my right leg fits a little better but still to tight for comfort. But it’s a start.

Now I have some questions. About EV mode and the info behind the steering wheel. And the sync. Where should I post them?

Thank you all so much.
