Hello all,

I have a 2013 C-Max SE with 87,000 miles on the clock.  Recently the car has been acting strange.  Sometimes we cannot open the car via the remote and once in, the car will start and the remote works again.  The other day we started it and the wrench came on and went away.  Another time after starting it, it warned my wife not to do over 80 mph.  Today the car was dead after my wife drove it work.  I hooked up jumper cables and after a few minutes, the dash came to life and it started.  However the wrench was on, the airbag light was on, and it said "Power Steering Failure."  I drove it home and could barely turn the wheel left or right and it needed force to turn the corner despite the car moving.  Once home, I turned it off and started it back up and the wrench stayed on but the power steering came back to life and the airbag light disappeared.  I want to try a new 12V battery but I fear something more sinister is going on.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

While not as severe as your symptoms, I've experienced similar wonk. Of note, fob not working reliably, hatch popping unlocked, but not opening the rest of the way or not closing -- audible "beep beep beep" indicating some lack of power or obstruction where none exists on an overall healthy vehicle.

As a 2013 model, I know a replacement 12v battery is due and would likely resolve some of these issues. I did replace the fob coin-cell battery a couple months back and haven't yet had a recurring range/unlock issue, but the hatch issues remain. 12v replacement forthcoming.

I am willing to bet the same. But it has occurred once or twice in the past even when it was a year old. Just so strange how that could throw so many lights. Tomorrow will tell!

Change your fob battery and get your 12v battery tested.

No need to test battery.  Took it out and the "eye" on the battery was red.  Went and picked up a new one and all is right for now.
