2020 Escape Hybrid

Ford might tune the Escape for a different audience than our C-Max's. When we test drove our 2018 C-Max vs Escape, the Escape had a "truck-ier" ride while the C-Max was smooth, refined, and buttoned down with flatter cornering.  Engineers know how to tune, so that's no accident.

Will 2020 Escape Hybrids come with the same Michelins as the C-Max or be a compromise toward a truckster feel?

Per the order guide, hybrids get either 17- or 19-inch wheels.

Tire Rack lists 98 choices in 225/65-17, including our Michelins, so it's a possibility.

They list only 21 tire options  for 225/55-19, two of them Michelin. One of these, their Premier LTX, is available in all three OEM sizes so they might use it across the product line if consistent ride is desired across the product line. From my perspective, I don't see a bad Michelin option. Tire Rack's LTX test report is really good.

HAve fun,

Frank

A Ford dealership just posted the sticker for a 2020 Escape Titanium hybrid front-wheel drive.  It shows MPG - highway 37 mpg, City 44 mpg, average at 41 mpg.  That at least matches the official overall average mpg for the C-Max.  The Ford site doesn't list the mpg yet but maybe by next week.  Waiting to see the mpg for the all-wheel drive version.

UPDATE:  Someone posted a window sticker for an AWD hybrid, showing 43 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 40 overall average.  That is still good.
