Our reliability stats for the C-MAX now include owner experiences through March 31, 2014, making them nearly a year ahead of other sources.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 C-MAX: 26, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 80, 5

Thank you, once again, everyone who has been helping. Next update in August.

Next updates in November and in February. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

We've updated our reliability stats for the C-MAX to include owner experiences through September 30, 2014.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 C-MAX: 23, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 77, < 1

Additional participants always helpful. Especially need more for the 2014 and up, to get them included.

Meh, almost all vehicles are considered reliable when they are new. They should be, they are new. That doesent reflect how reliable the vehicle will be later. The C-Max is too new to call it either way, all we can do is look at Ford as a whole, which is below average. Ford has never really been known for reliability, although they seem to be doing a bit better than they used to be. Determining reliability is extremely hard. I have seen Ford come up on charts ranging from almost dead last to in the top 4, although they seem to be on the lower end on most charts.

More people might report more less problems with a particular vehicle, but that does no in itself prove the vehicle is less or more reliable than others. Maybe owners of that particular vehicle tend to be more Internet savvy and therefore report problems more than other vehicle owners. Or maybe the repair experience of owners of a particular experience is worse than that of others, so they are more inclined to go online and complain about it.

Without including ALL repairs at ALL authorized dealers, we dont know how accurate the data on True Delta is. It could very easily be skewed for a number of a thousand different reasons. For example, a person is MUCH more likely to report a repair to True Delta because they are having problems. People who are not having problems are less likely to mention that on any site.

You seem to assume that this survey is like most surveys. It isn't. The stats exclude problems that appeared before members joined. Instead, once someone signs up they are surveyed after the end of each quarter going forward. We follow up as necessary to minimize the chance of non-response bias. This system works--we have many cars for which only a small percentage of owners have reported repairs.

An extreme case: with the 2015 Forester, we had zero repairs reported for 66 cars. As you suggest, this would not happen with the typical reliability survey.

New stuff this time. We've updated our reliability stats for the C-MAX to include owner experiences through the end of 2014. Plus we've added reliability trends graphs. These indicate how a model's reliability has changed as it has aged, and how different model years performed when the same age.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2014 C-MAX: 26, low, small sample size

2013 C-MAX: 23, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 82, < 1

We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be. We especially need more 2014s and 2015s.

So, how have these cars been doing lately?

Our reliability stats for the C-MAX now include owner experiences through March 31, 2015. (Others are nearly a year behind.)

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year ("low" is best):

2014 C-MAX: 30, moderate, small sample size

2013 C-MAX: 29, low

Plus, the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 80, < 1

No stat for a model year? Then we very much need more participants for it. Same for those with small sample size notes. Next updates in August and November.

That's the idea. We especially need more owners involved with the 2014 and up.

Our reliability stats for the C-MAX now cover the year ending June 30, 2015. (Others are over a year behind, and so report how these cars were doing when a year younger.) Repair trips per 100 cars:

2014 C-MAX: 24, low, small sample size

2013 C-MAX: 29, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 79, 2

We've updated our reliability stats for the C-MAX to include owner experiences through September 30, 2015. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2014 C-MAX: 10, low

2013 C-MAX: 34, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 70, 2

We'll have further updates in February and in May. Additional participants are needed to provide precise stats for all model years (we especially need more for the 2014 and up).

We've updated our reliability stats for the C-MAX to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

2014 C-MAX: 14, low

2013 C-MAX: 43, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 67, 2

No stat? Then we especially need more owners involved for that model year.

We've updated our reliability stats for the C-MAX to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):

2014 C-MAX: 26, moderate

2013 C-MAX: 35, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 C-MAX: 74, < 1

I'd love to have stats for the 2015 and up, but we need more participants to make this happen.
