MyTouch didn't want to shut off...

Recommended Posts

i keep on coming back to what is most apparent in the sync system, and that is you the new owners should not be beta tester on a $1000 add on. when my $200 android nexus 7 tablet is a million times more accurate in maps, takes calls, and will read my messages, back. understands anything i ask it. has more ability in the music and app content, only it works everytime. anyone with android 4 knows how great it is. ford must have got a nice side deal with m$, to use their software. big mistake.

I am not arguing that MFT has way more problems than it should. I only argue the "typical Microsoft" comment.

In the audio settings under the "occupancy mode" there are three buttons "Driver", "All Seats", and "Rear". Only the first two work, the "Rear" button is non-functional (not visually disabled though - it just doesn't respond to being pressed).

BTW, this works fine for me too. I wonder why its so inconsistent between different vehicles? Seems to me that would be the type of thing to either work for everyone, or not work for everyone.

Oh the idiosyncracies of this MyTouch Sync. So today, I changed a name on my android contact, tried to do a call to test it out and the voice command stop working. I got to my destination and then discover that after shutting off the engine and opened the door - normally this would shut down the MyTouch - the radio just kept on playing and the screen was stuck in the map. I have never seen this issue before and my mind was saying "micro$oft crap".

So I decided to lock the car and go shopping.

Came back and thankfully, the MyTouch was off. I started the car and noticed the clock was reset to 12 noon.

Sssssh.

I did call the sales guy and he said that if it didn't switch off, the whole car was needed to be brought it to have the tech boys reset it. Surely, surely, there must be an easier way?

Happened to me yesterday.  Just left radio on, came back 30 minutes later and all was well.

Apple maps has worked just fine for me. I do get annoyed by the two finger rotate 3D tendency...

I prefer Google Maps app as well.

Bing maps is actually one of my favorite things Microsoft does (Bing is also my default search engine). I wish they made an app.

Google has a good 6 year mapping head start on Apple and the advantage of a desktop version where they get practice too. I bet Apple releases a desktop version of maps. My biggest complaint is I have submitted corrections for some local place names at least 30 times but they never get updated.

I didn't say Apple could do no wrong. I said MyFordTouch is typical Microsoft crap.

I am not alone. I didn't invent that idea. Ford reliability is taking a beating because of it. Long long before I ever bought my Ford....

And I am just pointing out that Apple objects are crap also.

You are one of the few that have not had issues with the Mapping app that apple put out, when a company fires the person in charge of the project you know it is bad. There are tons of complaints on the net about the navigation application

Been driving fords since 1968, MFT to me has absolutely nothing to do with the realiablity of the car, at this point it is a inconvience at best. Right now Ford's reliablity is taking a beating on the mileage issues. As far as your radio complaint, my wife has a windstar, the radio not turning off when the door was opened has happened to her also. The vehiccle does not have sync.

MFT absolutely does have to do with the reliability of the car when things like climate control and hands free phone (required by law in my state) are run via MFT.

And I never said Apple was perfect, or Apple maps was brilliant. I know it has problems, I personally prefer Google maps.

I said MFT is Typical Microsoft crap - on the scale of Vista and Bob...

I am not sure why you are hell bent in defending this. It is well documented since 2011 that MFT sucks and has damaged the usability, reliability, and customer satisfaction of Ford vehicles.

Ford has taken a beating due to MFT, and even extended their MFT warranty to try and help people feel better about buying a Ford with MFT.

This all happened before I even ordered my c-max.

My personal experience is MFT is still buggy as hell and unreliable, and they for some reason are holding on to the update for us much longer than they should.

When you release a brand new new product line it is generally good to have the software updates ready for the release... They should have had MFT 3.5.1 ready and MFM operational for c-max before the end of the year - preferably before November.

Last night I started the car up backing out of the driveway and the rear view camera came on and stayed there in a frozen state even when I shifted into drive.  Finally when I shut the car off it eventaully turned off.  Later when I got out of the restaurant it behaved properly ableit slowly like a machine booting up with background stuff going on.

Finally it started behaving ok.

I agree with that statement; although I would like to know what percentages of people have problems.  I'm wondering if it could be a vocal minority?

I read somewhere that according to Ford's internal information (obviously not an unbiased source), most of those who had MFT would get it again.

Well some bad news...I took my Max to Galpin Ford yesterday and had them check the sync software and my Nav card. For some reason, I have an A3 card but the techie confirmed it was an A4. He tried the A4 card and it would not take in my Max. I am suppose to have the latest and greatest. I asked the guy why was my GPS said I was driving in the houses to which he replied that this does happen and it has to do with all GPS, citing that even his Tom Tom does this.

*sigh*

The good news he said is that an update is expected soon for our MFT at the end of this month or early next month.

The whole car is buggier then hell, was approarched in the parking lot last night and asked my recommendations on the car, my response was if you want it for the ride and the room then go for it, if you are looking at it from the mpg prespsective the walk away from it.

Since when is having a different opinion "defending" something? I agree it has some issues, just not as important as others that the car has.

40% as of November 2012 (down from the 50% it was in March).

Their goal of 36% by August sounds noble but if 36% of my boxes of Oreos tasted bad - I would probably stop eating Oreos.

Which is saying a lot because I *love* Oreos.

I don't love Ford.

For example, why does the currently playing track info not show up in the Entertainment quadrant while in the home screen? Make the Sirius logos smaller and left justified then put the track info there. Ironically the current track info shows up in the bottom left entertainment button when I am in the phone or NAV or climate screens - but is nowhere to be found while in the home screen...

Add insult to injury: the track info is displayed on the home screen when playing from USB. Why would you display track info on the home screen from USB but not from Sirius or FM? It's so inconsistent it's crazy.

I just keep having random problems. Good thing the reboot stick works OK.
