  1. I have a 2013 that has developed a similar sound. I'm afraid it has something to do with the transmission. I'll try coasting in neutral and see if it is still there.
  2. I think Ford should also produce a smaller Hybrid / Plug-in SUV similar in size to the Honda HRV and maybe they could call it something like, I don't know, C-Max II. I'm really going to miss the C-Max form factor - it has been perfect for me. I'll have to say I see more C-Max on the road than ever before. They're a fantastic deal on the used car market and appear to have some longevity.
  3. If you're looking for mileage and gas usage look at https://automatic.com/. Uses 3G and no fees. You can get all your info on a web site or phone. Have one on all my cars. Fantastic.
  4. I've seen a few forum posts where others have updated their navigation systems, but for a Focus. It appears possible but the approaches were adhoc. I'm not aware of any vendor selling a package.
  5. 110,000 on my 2013 Silver C-Max SEL. Been wonderful, no problems, 42 MPG lifetime average. 25,000 on my Red 2017 C-Max SE. Also a great car - 44.1 MPG average this last year. I really like these cars. They're ideal for commuting in heavy freeway traffic.
  6. I have two. 2013 SEL (110K lifetime 42+ MPG) and 2016 SE (20K lifetime 44+ MPG). Great cars, great value! You'll be happy.
  7. Plug the phone you want to play music from into one of the available USB ports.
  8. I also have two C-Max, a 2013 and a 2016. I'm getting much better mileage in the 2016. I don't believe Ford changed the car a bit between 2016 and 17. I'm not sure when it was implemented but the newer models now have an ECO mode. ECO mode has increased my mileage by about 4 MPG. I use a use an ODB II plug in to track mileage on both my cars. For this year ... 2016 C-Max - 13,900 Miles, 45.6 MPG 2013 C-Max - 9,500 Miles, 41.0 MPG Now to be fair I'm driving the 2016 SE and my wife is driving the 2013 SEL. Her driving characteristics are very different and account for a portion of the differences. Nick
  9. I have Weathertech on both my C-Maxes. They have worked well and clean easily. When I resell at 300K the carpet will still look great!
  10. The Microsoft partnership on the old Sync has been a disaster for Ford. A worthless piece of you know what in my opinion. I gave up on it in my 2013 and installed a Garmin GPS. My 2016 has Sync 3 which has been fantastic.
  11. The battery on your FOB is probably on its last leg. I had similar problems recently. I replaced the FOB battery and all is well.
  12. Lifetime (since February this year) with my new 2016 C-Max SE: 10,836 MILES 45.3 MPG $541.82 FUEL Estimate 302:02 HOURS
  13. I don't get the CR MPG numbers at all. Here's my numbers for the month so far. 634 MILES49.1 MPG All I do is commute to work every morning, just like everyone else on the freeways in the Twin Cities - 33 miles one way. I don't try to save gas, I just try to get to work on time without killing myself. I don't think I could get 35-37 MPG if I tried! In the winter when it is below 0F, yes, I get in the 30's. During the spring, summer and fall, never. Numbers from my commute this morning. 33.6 MILES57.4 MPG $1.36 FUEL 56.4 MINUTES Yes, I am driving on a freeway ... kind of sad I know. The slower my average speed for a commute the better my MPG. CR must be driving 90 MPH in their city driving.
  14. Just changed the battery in one of my fobs. Worked fine.
  15. Wow, great info. I have a 2013 and a 2016. The 2016 has an Eco mode activated by the EcoSelect button. I drive in this mode most of the time and experience better mileage. The big difference I perceive when driving between Eco mode and normal mode is how the car de-accelerates when pulling off the gas pedal. I brake far less in rush hour traffic because of this. The TCM must be doing something different in Eco mode to cause this to happen - not sure what. Ford provides a vague description in the manual ... EcoSelect allows your vehicle to operate more efficiently. You will notice: • Less aggressive heating and cooling. • Softer acceleration. • More regenerative braking. • Changes in engine behavior. • ECO cruise control activation. FYI - My mileage in the 2016 for the year is 44.9 MPG and for this last week is 47.5 MPG. I do not hypermile, so these numbers represent driving normal if not aggressively.
  16. I have a 2013 - one of the first off the assembly line in 2012. A few weeks after I bought the car I heard a very loud grinding noise one morning when pulling it out of the driveway. I immediately drove it back into the driveway, parked it, and called the Ford dealership. It was picked up by a tow truck that day. The dealership called me later and told me they couldn't find anything wrong, returned the car, and I haven't heard the grinding since. I found the whole episode odd, briefly questioned my sanity, but just moved forward since the car was working again. I bet I had the transmission issue and they stealthily fixed it! I have 100K on the car now and all is well; I have really loved the car these past 5 years. Probably should have been a recall but given it was a new model they chose secrecy. All conjecture on my part of course ... no, I am not prone to conspiracy theories.
  17. I updated manually to latest version of 2.2 using the image available on owner.ford.com. Before it was available I used one I found on a Ford Focus forum. Honestly not sure where it came from but it worked.
  18. Seems a bit biased. He didn't quote the 0-60 acceleration for the C-Max which is between 7.6-9 seconds, little faster than 9.8. His handling comment is very subjective. I was driving my 2013 C-Max the other day in rush hour freeway traffic at 65 MPH. A truck just about side swiped me and I had to very quickly turn to avoid a collision. I was amazed afterward how well the C-Max handled the very quick turn at 65 MPH. It remained stable, I didn't skid and I retained control. I am not sure if it was the weight of the vehicle or what but I was glad I was driving a C-Max when it happened. Oh, and by the way, my MPG for the month of June so far as reported by my Automatic ODB II adapter: 659 miles, 48.4 MPG
  19. No ... I wish. I recently bought another CMax - 2016 SE Hybrid. I've seen posts of people replacing the head unit on a Focus, so it is probably possible, but requires a major hardware upgrade. Yes, I am now the proud owner of 2 CMax hybrids. The 2013 SEL has 100K now and the warranty ran out. I found a new 2016 SE for 17K with Sync 3 and couldn't pass it up. My wife is driving the SEL and I'm using the new one as my commute car for work. Getting even better mileage with 2016 using the new ECO mode. I'm averaging 47.2 MPG for 1200 miles the month of May.
  20. Ford just released an official update to Sync 3 for 2016 vehicles including CMax Hybrid and Energi. You should be able to download it from your My Ford site or you can use WiFi to upgrade with this release. Here is a link that shows the features: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-wi-fi-update-brings-apple-carplay-android-auto-to-2016-sync-3-users/ Just installed it. I've been using the 2.2 version that was available through the forums. This newer version has better menus and more features depending on what your car supports. Nick
  21. Yes, it isn't quite as responsive, but it still seems to accelerate when needed, and it does get better mileage. More interesting to me is how I don't need to break as often. The car slows down more quickly when off the gas. I probably break half as much as when not in ECO mode. I do drive differently in the CMax, but no, I don't pay that much attention to staying under 2 bars. I am more interested in surviving my 35 mile commute during rush hour! One of the reasons I bought another CMax versus a Prius, KIA or Hundai is the CMax's ability to accelerate decently. Also, the price was phenomenal and I do feel good about it being made in Detroit.
  22. 46.5 MPG in my first month of my new 2016 C-Max. I also have a 2013. The 2016 gets better mileage using the new ECO mode. My driving is mostly a ~35 mile commute on freeway during rush hours.
