  1. Partial answer: the Ford tech I spoke with this morning said what I'm seeing are little covers that snap into the visor brackets to cover the philips screws beneath. When I get my car back after its software refreshment I'll pop them off and try my repositioning idea -- and report back.
  2. Kinda odd to consider acceleration for these vehicles, but kinda not: Comparisons of Cmax power and handling (and a few miles driving one) persuaded me to buy one vs Prius V. I enjoy performance (had two Taurus SHO's and a 1985 LTD LX (look it up) in my historic fleet. I don't expect the same power from the Cmax but like to merge without drama and have space under the go pedal when I need it. I agree: the Cmax provides (more than) adequate power and pretty impressive mileage. I like the mix from my Max.
  3. One thing we noticed even before buying our C-Max was the sun visors. Unlike even our old Olds Alero, they don't slide on the mounting brackets to improve positioning -- something that would be helpful, given the huge C-Max windows. More fixable is the angle of the mounting brackets. On swinging the visors to cover the side windows, they actually seem to rise up due to the bracket angle. I was planning to experiment by inserting some washers under the rearmost mounting screw, to drop the visors down some. Problem is . . . there IS NO SCREW ! The brackets appear to be attached with some kind of rivet. Question: Does anyone know how to remove these rivets without messing up the appearance and performance of the visor system? Or . . . does anyone have an alternative fix for the visor issue? Thanks! Walt in Everett, Wash.
  4. With 1200 miles on the clock we squeezed almost 42 mpg from the last tankful, and based on wisdom from other members I expect that to increase as what I fondly call "The Blob" gets broken in. The other variable is our driving style, which thanks to the Engage display is improving. I've learned to roll the throttle back to enter EV mode, then ease back on the pedal in EV -- especially effective in city traffic. I've always gone easy in braking, so 100 percent recharge is easy to nail. It's a far cry from the drag race stats I used to follow (9.8 E.T. at 134 mph, etc) but still a matter of skill and practice. I've never believed I could hit the 47 mpg level, but blowing by the 38 mpg claimed by Consumer Reports has been satisfying indeed. I don't like lawsuits of this sort. Not at all.
  5. We caught a concert by Keola Beamer in Phoenix (of all places) last spring. Great slack key playing and singing. The venue, the Musical Instrument Museum, is a must-see for anybody who digs music--especially ethnic stuff. My favorite musical voyage is to plug in my 8gb thumb drive, which packs everything from Bill Monroe to Dub Syndicate to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (thanks to my music-mad former college roommate), set it on random and let it rip. My own playing focuses on the old time country and folk stuff I learned in the 1960s. Walt
  6. My dollar store only had one sheet per package but that's still 50 cents each and 1/50th the cost of the screen protectors I saw at Best Buy, etc. Works great and no problem inputting instructions.
  7. Navtool does not currently list a product for CMAX.
