I just looked at locating the pods down lower on the tailgate after reading this thread. But don't see any potential mounting surfaces that are flat enough for the pods near the tail lights. Assuming there is any validity to moving them down lower. I did remove two pods from their positions at the trailing edge of the roofline which were positioned at the outer most position on either side from the center of the car. I placed them just below the rear glass and above the tail lights. This was about the only place I thought they might stay positioned. I don't expect this to have any impact, but we'll see, I'm just getting started on a new tank of gas. Stay tuned.

Definitely I'd go with the black and the pano roof. Nice to let the sunshine in when you want it. If too hot close the sunshade. Love mine.

The aero mods begin (Now working on Diffuser) !!!
mtb9153 replied to Recumpence's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Matt, all very interesting and I wish I had your ability to work so fluidly. I have plenty of idea's but my biggest problem is doing anything about it since my tools are limited to cutting, bending, and shaping material. I have no access to welding equipment, nor do I have the knowledge to do it if I could. I had not heard of Coroplast until I did a google search for it. Very interesting product being a corrugated plastic. Does it cut easily? Curious. Once you have your design finalized and working the way you think it best serves the purpose, I'd be interested in purchasing one if you were interested. I have envisioned using a diffuser made from carbon fiber simply because I love the look, but pricy. I found one made for the Honda S2000 sports car made by APR. I felt I could make it work on the CMax while thinking the undercarriage was similar in dimensions to the undercarriage of our car. But I'm only assuming this with no real concrete proof that it could be made to fit. Given the cost of $300+ I need to be more sure it will work. -

Matt your front air dam design is allot like the approach I took on a 1971 Datsun 240Z I owned back in the 80's. I lowered the car for autocrossing but there still was too much air getting underneath the fiberglass dam. So I got the idea of strengthening the lower lip of the dam by filling the backside with cut fiberglass mat. Then I drilled holes every 3 inches through the lip and mounted with hardware some 4" wide x 1/4" thick x 30" long extruded rubber that I found at local hardware supply store. Really added down force to the front end. Allot of the guys I raced with liked it and copied the design. I'm very interested in seeing the final diffuser design I plan to do this myself at some point. -
In the market for new car, would you buy another C-Max?

Brother Jus, about now I think the lyrics from Queen..."Another one bites the dust" is appropriate with HendersonD's decision. :yahoo: -
With the New Year approaching sooner than not, I wanted to throw out what I hope can become a reality this time. I really would like to see this happen this time so I hope Ford can make a serious attempt to pull things together in 2014. Regular updates on plans being made would be nice. I really would like the plant tour to again be a part of the activities. I know it is hard to pull together all the logistics of planning an event like this, but it can happen with full support of Ford and whatever any of us can do with helping it all come together from our level. I'm willing once again to be the official Videographer for covering the event once everyone gathers at the venue. I can provide copies of the footage on DVD to those who would like to order a copy for $25 with will include a thin-line plastic cover and artwork on front cover. Once the event is over and I'm back home it will take me about a month to edit the footage and create a suitable timeline of the footage I gather during the event. I hope we can pull this together this year.

Yes brother's Jus and Matt. To all a Merry Christmas and remember the real reason why we celebrate at this time of year. It's not about the presents and good cheer with friends. That's what the commercialized world want's us to think. Christmas is about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who was born this day thousands of years ago to take away the sins of the world by living a sinless life and dying on the cross for each of us. I'm proud to be a believer and share it with you all on this Christmas Day.

Yes that would make an excellent MFT screen background

Veeeerrrry Nice picture, love that Ruby Red

The factory antenna doesn't look that bad, besides I'm not trying to be a BMW or Mercedes by going with the shark fin. I'm just glad there's not an antenna sticking out of the right front fender like most cars.

Boy time marches on for aging rockers as well. Great video thanks Laurel for posting it.

I love standing out at Christmas and this is just the ticket. Plus hopefully some take a moment to get the true message of what all this celebration is really all about...A birthday for everyone's Savior :happy feet: :wub2: :victory:

marshtex2 will he interested in hearing about your DRL project, I love my DRL's both in the front grille and under each headlight using the adhesive side mounted ribbon lights. I prefer the side mount LED's since they show forward better than pointing up like cheaper models from places like Pep Boys. I bought mine online from Amazon.

I've always like to do things in a big way, so I put lights on all the way around. Last year the entire roofline was done in net lights. Thinking about doing the hood with net lights but think the local cops might think that is a distraction to my driving.

I find that my air recirculation mode when pushed ON will kick off on it's own. Suddenly I start smelling someone's cigarette in front of me and its because it switched off it's own. Drives me nuts I hate it! I'm allergic to smoke, exhaust fumes and all pollen and dust, which is why I rarely drive with recirculate off and I never drive with the windows open.

Yah I love doing this at Christmas, really get the looks. Last year someone pulled up next to me and took pictures, followed with a thumbs up. Real easy to do using a power convertor I bought from Radio Shack. Plugs into the cigarette lighter in the rear cargo area. Plug an extension cord into the 3 prone receptacle on the convertor and string the christmas the way you want with one male AC power plug on the end of your daisy chain of LED lights reaching inside the car through the door seal. Plug into the extension cord...viola! Christmas lights on your car. Oh one other thing, I use stick on cable tie mounts that I place on the CMax in locations other than painted surfaces so they can be removed after Christmas. A cable tie is used to secure the lights to the adhesive mount. The mounts and cable ties I buy in bulk from a local hardware store.

I'm guessing the door lock function in the CMax door handle senses the heat or your fingerprint in your hand, or sort of like the unlock function in my iPad mini or my iPhone5. Gloves on will not open the device, unless you are wearing a pair of those gloves I've seen with small touch pads in the finger tips which supposedly allow function with smart phone/device screens.

Jus, so glad you and Maxine are together again and she looks good as new. All I have to say about it is...Praise God, all worked out for the best. I will continue to pray for a complete recovery from your injuries and a clean bill of health. BTW, I like that decal on Maxine rear window, can I ask what it is from? I'm sort of a decal freak and like to design and make my own decals. Take care Brother Jus

I thought of doing this but decided against it since I like to listen to a Christian radio station which is very hard to pull in at 91.9 FM. Figured the shark fin would never be able to play it.

Had something happen yesterday that I've never seen before. Start Maxius, backed up, put in drive was driving along when I noticed the rear view camera was still running while driving forward. It did this for about 3 minutes before switching back to the normal screen with my background picture. Anybody ever had that happen to them? Was nice while it lasted, wish I could switch to allow forward viewing when wanted.

Suggested tips for cold weather driving?
mtb9153 replied to ERPriest's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Brother Jus, thanks for the comment I will not worry but DANG! it's been cold ever since that last system from Alaska blew through giving us our first rain in 90days and into SoCal then across the country riding on the Jet Stream. -
Suggested tips for cold weather driving?
mtb9153 replied to ERPriest's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Here in Northern California temps overnight have gone as low as the mid 20's in Sacramento area. Maxus sat outside that night and had a thick crust of ice when I came outside the next moring. I was wondering if prolonged exposure to sub freezing temps is a risk to our CMax? I would think that with the factrory anti-freeze in the cooling system should protect the ICE from freezing and possibly bursting a coolant hose or pipe. Any thoughts? Not used to these cold temps in CA. ICE is definitely running more with the heater turned up and the wife has the passenger seat warmer on. -
