  1. OK, that good enuf for me as well. :congrats: , welcome to the 700+ CMax Club. One thing I will ask...fotomoto and CMax-Traveler, as you both are now in the clubs, you need to replicate your runs and give us a photo when you clock over. I do this myself to prove that what I did to break the 600, 700 or 800 wasn't a "fluke of a month of tail wind, CMax towed up hill" and whatever the doubters like to throw our way....jus sayin :) and another surprise... Running totals for the 600+ CMax Club: 1 @ 800+ 6 @ 700+ 43 @ 600+ 50th Member...CMax-Traveler :love_shower:
  2. :congrats: you're in as well. SnitGTS has the :skateboard: still for the MAX sitting in the 600 bar of the club
  3. Well, thats good enuf for me, you're in.... :congrats:
  4. Yes, I noticed that too...its digital (there was discussion of this as well) based on some postings about it. Yeah. DTE is useless, at least for me....but its helpful for others. Actually, I just tanked up and I should check and see what my DTE is right now...I'll be shocked if it says > 850....lol.
  5. Search for my Nutz thread...the DTE is based on your recent history and on that day I was climbing mountains and coming down mountains so I was making DTE work overtime. You thought your DTE was weird...you ain't seen nuthin, lol. By the way, rule of thumb is that you have 20-30 miles left after DTE goes zero. The actual miles depends on whether you top off or not. So unless you are playing the hyper :) mile game, best to keep to DTE. If you are playing the game, always use the Trip computer "gas used" and keep the cut off point at 13.00 gallons used. Unless you are :twister: like ptjones, Matt or I....
  6. Thanks Paul, appreciate it. Yeah, telling me...city driving, spend as much time sitting on traffic lights as actually driving :drop: I had some nasty, nasty traffic & long waits on this trip but hey, everyone knows you're trading time for FE. Seriously, there is far more traffic on this tank that I can remember - could be the cost of gas is down to $3.89 a gallon here in Los Angeles...not good when I am saving gas and every other car here is a SUV guzzler hooning to the next red light (I counted like 5 instances of this just this morning commute) *sigh* My Costco tank receipt was 14.35 - but- that included filling up my spare tank that I had to use. Its complicated but my estimated math shows the actual was more like 14.05 gallons filled (topped iup included). I also had some "overfill" when I topped the spare tank (silly me). At least now I when if I top up to the max, my "gas used" limit is 13.45 but I don't usually break 13.00 as a rule except this time. As well, this is the 2nd time I ran out of gas in all my 20,671 miles of driving. I think I am done with the hypermiling for now, its snow season coming up fast and I have some long trips...so its unlikely I will try again until May/June next year when I am done with the snow. Have at it fellas...I like to see someone join me in the 800+ Club, its do-able, and this is my 3rd 800+ tank. If this doesn't spurr you Hyper :) milers ON, a nude Catherine Deneuve (if you don't know the name, google it ;) ) in a CMax is the ONLY THING left and I don't know if I can swing that one...
  7. Actually, it was ptjones back in Dec/Jan and then Matt's driving prowness and achievements (700+) that kicked in after that - that really pushed me to drive it harder. :flirt: it now though...8c a mile (is it even that, I need to recalc) and I am laughing all the way to the bank while my wifes gas bill remains ridiculous at over $350 per month. Think her next car is a Tesla X.
  8. IMO, after you posted this basically slamming all the hypermilers here "Well I think except for the die-hard hypermilers a vast number of owners just want to enjoy their CMax for what it is and not bust their butt trying to eck! out higher numbers just for the recognition and saying they did it. Bragging rights aren't important to these folks, it is what it is. I know until I started reading threads from Jus-A-CMax and other big hypermilers that it wasn't a big focus for me. " ...it's clear you're telling everyone, this die-hard-hypermiling is not for you. Fair enuf, I accept that. Then you clearly contradict yourself: "But now I just want to get into the 600+ club and my present tank of gas is my best change of doing that"...what gives Mike? Are you saying you now want to join the "die hard hypermilers" who "bust their butt trying to eck! out higher numbers just for the recognition and saying they did it." and now YOU want "bragging rights" about it....huh...... :runaway: I'm sorry but I am not going to let this post go by and let you slam all the great hypermilers who contributed tremendously to this forum with their knowledge and achievement like Matt, Seth, SnitGTS, frbill, Nick, 11StiLimited and many, many others and presume they all did it for "bragging rights". I speak for myself but I enjoy the hypermiling game, it makes me more aware of the vehicle I drive in and most of all the conditions of the road, traffic and surroundings. Unlike the drone gas drivers. Plus its a personal achievement, just like when I first run my 1st 10K race. I do it cause I :flirt: it. I wonder if you go to marathons and tell the finishers they do it for "bragging rights"? Yes, I am being facetious. Flame away, but enuf is enuf!
  9. :congrats: Hannah WCU Awesome effort!!!! :congrats: 2nd highest female driver, only pipped by Adair by 0.1 MPG...how close is that!!!! Awesome driving C-Maxgo!!!!
  10. I called the Ford customer service yesterday for another matter and as such, I did slip in a question about when my check was coming, they are doing it "in batches". So lets all be patient. Thats makes it $750 TOTAL when the check comes, that I have got back from Ford. $200 for the Irvine Pow-Wow and now this...and plus WELL OVER 47+MPG City driving....gotta :flirt: that ;) :skateboard: :headspin:
  11. Neither do I. I and many other here too are more interested in some of these questions and if someone here TWEETS, can you please ask Ford this: Will the 2014 CMax body enhancements be made available for the 2013 CMaxs? Will Ford make more further improvements in the negative split mode to utlize the battery for > 65mph freeway travelling. Aka ICE High MPG.
  12. Compared with my 833.8 high tank@600 mile mark on 06/23/2013 and that was pre-13b07 update: At 0.18 gas used difference, that is a good 16 miles difference between the tanks at ALMOST the same mile marker. Sssssh.....ain't even gonna come close :(
  13. Check this thread out: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1664-who-has-313-nav-and-it-works-properly/page-2 Both AE and I took our CMaxs back to the dealer and have them replace the GPS unit and both of us are having spot on navigation since. I suspect there are bunch of BAD GPS out there. For me, it took Galpin Ford, 3 days for Galpin to talk to Ford, Diagnose, order the part and and test it afterward and it was well worth it. Its been SPOT ON. Insist your dealer swap out the GPS.
  14. I can handle mossies but no-see-um...hell if I flew an F4 with napalm, you bet I will nuke every lil last gene in those s*ckers....
  15. Nope. No Ice until I drive to Mammoth and even then my psi was still high, no issues with traction even with the cable off. Tires are rotated every 5K...if you keep this routine up, you'll reduce your chance for uneven wear unless there is a defect in the wheel which you tire guy should see immediately, if they are any good.
  16. I'll keep mine as well...but I would :flirt: to play with the MY14. Oh yeah.
  17. Ugh. They make hypermiling sound like it's some sort of 3 armed midget at a freak show in a fluorescent flashing cage. No. Embrace hypermiling, it makes the drive much more fun where you interact with your car instead of being a drone. It also makes you a far, far better and aware driver than the DRONES on the roads. I use to drive > 50% freeways at one time, my speed ranged from 68 to 58 as I pulse and glided. Back then (pre 13b07 update) we had ICE High MPG that would gauaranted 40MPG minimum and it would dance at 45-60MPG on the flat. Since the update I have not often driven freeway due to my change in work but according to some posters here, you can "blip" the eco-cruise and initiate some ICE High MPG but you may need to tweak by feathering the pedal to kick it out of the full EV. Again, this is on the flats. Don't expect 47MPG climbing hill, no such ICE/hybrid exists. Also freeway driving is all about battery management. Have a good read of my review of the CMax on my sig, hope you can pick up some pointers. The topics of hilly/mountain terrains has also come up in another thread, suggest you search for it and have a good read. Bottom line: You can't fight physics, so stick to the right, 2 bar it up the mountain and enjoy the Sony music system :)
  18. ...the MPG up and downs continued today, 63.4 total for the day. Yesterday was 61.2. I also checked the tire pressure...they were at 39 psi. Obviously Galpin, as part of the service also checked the tires and -that- may explain my poor MPG lately. So I pumped them to 45psi this evening after letting the tires cool down in the evening. We shall see...fingers crossed.
  19. Thats it Nick and SnowStorm, pick on the ole man.... :twister: I am surprise THE ALIEN has not made an appearance yet, it is, after all, Adair's thread..... :kookie:
  20. :congrats: and welcome to the 600+ Mile CMax club!!!!! Next stop 650 :) C'Mon ptjones...you can do it. You're the :worship: 1st to predict a 700...so this is your chance to make your own prediction come true
  21. :congrats: Well done SnitGTS, next time...your car is still WAY YOUNG....mine jus clocked over 20K this evening :)
  22. I am? How do you know I am not a hunched back, 89 yr old, with an oxygen tank next to me....and losing his mind. Never mind, most of you would say that last word applied to me regardless of my age.... :runaway: &
  23. Yeah, we can have an endless list but right now, I am thinking capping it as a Top 30 otherwise the Post #1 size just gets berzerk. Might keep a small "honorable" mention for those bumped out of the Top 30. As for the 500+ miles, its to make sure we have a decent amount of driving on your choice of terrain. That stops the 100+ MPG reports for the 6 milers etc. Even then, I see some drivers do continue to struggle to get > 35MPG due to skill, traffic, speed, terrain etc. However, 500 should not be a total stretch for those like spyburn who lives further away from gas (this is not a 600+ Mile CMax Club where its TIGHT to get those numbers for some). Ultimately, this thread is about IMPROVING your FE driving skill and the only way to do that is to have some ranking system. Lets keep it all fun and Maxing along. Who would not want to have 8c or less per mile? Or maybe some prefer... :spend: :)
