  1. Ah....the pirate...and some other emoticon are "linked" from other websites. Its nothing special, anyone could do this...and no, its not a mod only thing either. By the way, neither Adair nor I have anything to do with these site changes, we are effected by it as well. Perhaps if the posters here can PM robertlane and see if he can change it back.... :headscratch:
  2. I don't but I do not need to...driving those roads practically everyday, you get the gist of what Maxine likes and what she doesn't . I left out some of the side/alternate routes as they apply to my job and where I shoot but not really that practical if you're driving thru, I burnt like 15,000 miles from Dec2012 to May 2013. However, my new office job means I no longer take these routes as work is now much closer and I take city streets but these routes are burnt into my memory and I would use them again if I am headed there... Next weekend, I'll do a test run to see compare what the 13b07 has given me when I do a long run from home to Camarillo. So far, my last 2 to-work runs from home to work has been an absymal low 70s when I usually do high 70s to low 80s. Not real happy with this update at this time...
  3. I like the old style better too. The smileys...click on the "<" or ">" arrows at the start/ends of the emoticon bar
  4. Gen - hope u will figure out some cool and easy ICE high mpg rather than "blip" it...anyway...lets start...lol, not da man. #1 tip, avoid the Conejo grade, use the east la ave, moorpark, santa rosa - that grade will burn more fuel than I use in 2 days of driving. i love east la ave...its so nice to go thru the farms lands and even pick up some vegs & fruits. #2 use the box cyn from 118 to valley circle to 101. #3 kannan is good going from north to south (to PCH) but topanga is best for going south to north (to 101). #4 the 118 going east to west. do not go stupid and burn 65 mph from topanga to the top of rocky peak. keep to the right and use the 2 bar burn for most efficiency. Recharge like hell going down the grade to yosemite - tap the brakes so you can get as much charge as you can because whilst going from yosemite to first is essentially down hill, you still need to use from charge (preferably EV) from yosemite. Effectively around Sequoia, its more downhill so you can back off the EV. Use the P&G. #5 on the 23, north to south, avoid the sunset grade and if you can't - 2 bar it up the hill. This is where Moorpark is a possible option? #6 118 going west to east. I can P&G or just use eco-cruise (ice high mpg). its all up grade so its payback time for the #4. nuthin you can do to fight physics. If you really want to save the MPG, Cochran Rd or East LA Ave. So, the gist of this is to avoid climbing these bad a$$ grades at 65+mph speed, if u can. As my job takes me to different roads, sometimes these alternative roads such as east la ave vs 118 makes more sense for me.
  5. :congrats: Grouper on the 1st of many birthdays and also thank you for your many contributions here :)
  6. There is good karma that will come back to you :)
  7. Keep this up and it will be an amazing thread...well, it is now...to see these odd and ACTUAL things real owners fit into their CMaxs. Good stuff posters
  8. BUMP - with the latest Ford CMax MPG revision news - I ask this question again....would you? My vote does not change. I got more than the advertised in 90% of my CMax usage. Unfortunately, the 10% are the killer, 7,800 ft elevation heavy load hauls that killed my fuelly.com...well, technically, I am still above the 47MPG....jus is good enuf ;) I also added an additional question - are u happy with the CMax as well.
  9. Driving to work this morning and noticed this... Someone had a BAD DAY this morning....side swipe and nearly into the house...see Pic#2.... Faces wiped to protect the morons...
  10. Ok, today was better - back to 64.3MPG finish for the 45 miles I travelled to/from work & golf course. Gonna fuel up tomorrow.
  11. ...another Jag owner, huh  My wifey laughed at me for parking away and said something similar to what happened to your Jag. I still keep Maxine away, jus in case. We have the worst drivers here in Los Angeles, many with no license and insurance (wonder why...) and we are the hit run capital. Not good.
  12. IMO, the dislike for Consumer Report and the CMax is the blatant bias they have shown excoriating the CMax MPG results they got while turning a blind eye to a similar Prii abysmal MPG report - this has been posted so many times here and in some many threads. Their credibility is shot. My family will never subscribe to them and if I want to read about a blender, I go google or Amazon - let alone trust their review of the upcoming MY14 CMax with any neutrality or bias. Want something real - go follow mpgomatic.com. CR wrote the bed they wanted to lie on, and its our right to criticize them - just as they feel they have the right to criticize Ford. What goes around, comes around. My 2c. Heres a thought for CR lurkers: Since they CLAIM they buy these cars, did they all all the updates to 13b07 and lets see some followup testing in the summer (as they did their testing in winter). Will we see that --- oh when hell freezes over I guess... :lol2:
  13. *sigh* really :nonono: , I better try that out on my virtual CMax to see if you are correct: :airquote: double tapping means reduce the cruise mph setpoint by 2 mph to reduce the engine load :airquote: :redcard: Obviously, I have NO IDEA what I am doing in this car. And that :airquote: 1/4 gallon means Adair will go from the 600 club to 900 club like you posted :runaway: Good Gawd :flyaway:
  14. Damn, if I knew the post was this long, I would have made some popcorn and settled on a nice comfy recliner. NIce post, glad its working out for you. Those wipers are VERY effective, been in some storm and also snow with them, they plain work - trust me on this :)
  15. Ok, here are my notes from the CITY driving: 1. Warmup time and fuel burn, definitely down but it wasn't that much of a gain but its still positive. I use to have 0.05 burn to a point on a road and I am seeing 0.03 or 0.04. I STILL see 2 warm up cycles, right at the start when ICE starts after the ON button and the car is moving and then I kick in EV, the next use of ICE is another 2nd but shorter cycle. Both cycles cannot be avoided but both times are down as well after this update. 2. Power - no difference. Unlike JohnnOhio, I do not see any loss in torque and power. I can still gun it when I have to and I can still feather it no worries. 3. At 30 to 38 mph, the car seem to coast better - it feels like the active grill shutters are closed but I have no proof since I have nothing to stick under the bonnet...but it definitely seems to glide better. Temp was around 85 and AC was off for both days. 4. EV driving - seem to go down slower in-use but again, I have no proof of this, just what I notice. 5. Charging - slight improvement, just a tad quicker. Again, just observation. I also had my 20K oil change and tire rotation and I am hearing some more tire road noise so I am thinking its just the tires settling down these couple of days. Not checked the tire pressure yet either....that could play a factor. Its on my Maxine "to-do" list. Now you would think I should be pusing the max out of my MPGs but with 2 days of the post 13b07, I am not seeing any gains. Infact, my daily work MPG has gone down from 63MPG to about 61MPG. 2 MPGs...what...why am I complaining....these are high numbers....at these high numbers, its a difference between a mid 700 and 800+ tank. I will keep at it and observe it. This :airquote: play tank is almost done anyway...
  16. A wee bit better this morning, 76 vs 72 yesterday, same drive. Same 0.28 gas used but better EV this morning. May be its still learning. Yesterday I finished at 61MPG, dissappointing but the drive felt good though. I'll keep watching it to see how it goes....kinda disappointed there is no visual MPG improvements.
  17. Put this in a thread by itself and I will pin it :)
  18. Headliner - can't see nuthin but I do smell a :airquote: leather for a couple of days
  19. Let it run for a week and keep good stats. Surprisingly, my number was DOWN on my surface street run - 72MPG vs 78-82 MPGs that I normally get but I had silly traffic on parts of my route this morning which could have effected it. I was hoping for a mid 80s run. Yeah. Right. I'll keep at it and its still a "play" tank to figure this out and also this new ICE High MPG "blip" thing.
  20. ..and here I was messing with the cruise +/-. Cool, thanks CMax-Traqveler, I'll have to try this, should be easy enuf to feather. The old way was much simpler....but we don't have any 85mph freeways here. 70 is the max I have seen....
  21. Thats a great question, pre-13b07 was easy, double tap the "-" and it would kick in the ICE High MPG. However, maybe its me, but it doesn't want to go into the negative split mode as using the same double tap kicks it into full EV. I am still playing with it on the freeway but if someone can elaborate on this "blip" I would think the whole forum would like to know as well....
  22. Thanks for the thread but there is an existing thread to discuss this issue already: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2781-2014-ford-c-max-hybrid/ Lets carry on the conversation there. :)
