Go darrelld!!! -
Welcome to the forum - wondering if you are affliliated with th Gas Pod company?
-
Welcome to the forum Altazi...thats one way to get attention with the subject, lol. There is a lot of commentry on all CMax topics, a lot of reviews and opinions and do checkout the Fuel Mileage section and then make up your mind. One major thing to note, you'll hear a lot of 3.5.1 and the updates by Ford to improve FE (don't know what this stands for? check out the links in my sig)...its a major step for a motor company. Not own a Prii but I doubt that Toyota would provide these software updates as Ford does. I personally blow away the 47/47/47 everyday, though I drive City now 90 to 100% of the time but in my other job I still blow away those figure and that was with at least 50% freeway. Go read, and feel free to ask any questions if its not been asked before (there is a search function) as well. :)

hey mtb, if you want to move them on, let me know...I'll luv to try 'em and see if it will do anything since I get pretty consistent MPGs on my set route.

Energi has a different gear ratio which helps with the battery. I hope the rumor is right that Ford may unleash a wee bit more battery juice. I know its there as I was driving home, EV+ kicked in but I was down to 1/3 and lo-n-behold I had such a high EV threshold, almost up 3 bars. Woah. -
Nice one Snowstorm! Congratulations! @adair - thanks for the update :)

Hear about what? Did I miss something? :runaway: -
You are good. The rules says give us your best MPG with 500 miles minimum. Now whether you do not tank up, tank up once or 100 times between the 0 miles to 500 miles, its up to you. Yeah, you need a picture as proof but you and fotomote are good but pics next time. The rules here are far less stringent than the 600+ because its all about your MPG number but you must show you did 500+ to get that number. So your 519 is good Adair, its stands.

mtb - anything to report. did the gas pods work for you - since its been a while now?

Theres not been a whole bunch of uphill testing done here by anyone, at least as far as I have been on this site so we don't exactly know the most FE way to climb. I did ask initially when I started here back in Dec but the answers were non-existence or ignored so I had to learn this myself. I have one way to climb and Gary has another way to climb but here are the truths...you will burn gas and the faster you go uphill, the more gas you burn. IMO, climbing hills and all and I climb some pretty nasty and long grades both here in SoCal (Los Angeles/Ventura County) and also the Sherwin Grade, north of Bishop on the 395 aka my Mammoth trips (285 miles, 800ft to 7,800ft elevation change and temps from 60F to 30F depending on year). From what I can tell and using the nasty Sherwin Grade, sticking to just 2 bar and on the right hand side of the road is the most FE way to climb steeps - so long as no one is sticking on your tail as your speed WILL drop to 50-55mph and in CA, 55 is the lower limits for trucks and towies. Sure you lose minutes but FE driving is always about time vs fuel so nothing new here. I stick to 2 bars cause it allows me to recharge going up for the descent and typically there is always flats on the top of the grade that I use EV to go over. I also remember also climbing Sherwin at the 65mph....crap did I burn a whole lot of gas and the Avg MPG plummeted 6-7, never again since I was pretty FE just getting there from Los Angeles (~260 mile point or 3/5 tank). My 2c.

Going :flyaway: People, topping off the gas is not the key topic here guys. If you want to discuss this issue, please do a search first to see if there is an existing thread or start a separate one. Otherwise this conversation becomes diluted..plus its been rehaaasssshed many times already. Thanks.... :) -

I am surprised...thought you might have waited to see.... -
His other post strongly indicate he has the 3.5.1 update, took 6 hrs apparently.... Agreed. If an owner comes here complaining they are not beating their Prii MPG, I keep away. Before the OP jumps on me, I never owned a hybrid before the CMax so I never experience the wonderful MPGs in a Prii but I did have a day or 2 drives in the Prii and I want a Prii too. Mind u, the Prii got some respects with 600, 700 and even low 800s with a smaller tank and much lighter weight & power but I feel OK...as much as Adair wants to send me to the psychiatrist or just declare me insane.... :headspin: .....I want to say, nothing like doing all that in a heavy M1 Abrahms either... ;) Yes, I am a :noobie: CMaxer....

No, nothing will change. Even with the update..its still a tough ask to do 600 miles a tank. 700 is when your zipper is down...and 800+ is when you're running naked and the whole LAPD is chasing with sirens blaring behind yer...you better know what da hell you're doing.

:congrats: not too shaby indeed. Goes to the top of the rankings

I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!

Go for the High MPG Club instead.... :flyaway: -
I dunno about trusting Ford web info...hybridbear and I had a discussion in the 1000+ FFH hybrid thread that even they got the size of the fuel tanks :airquote: wrong... :baby:
-
You had to make me look at your fuelly....lol....ok Doug, :congrats: you're in with the 38.5 based on your fuelly.com, and since you're a prolific poster we have some sense of trust. I know you can do better so snap us a pic when you do ;)
-
Thats't the idea - more participation and no risk of running out of gas....but this does elevate the 600+ Mile Club to a higher status because its so much more difficulat to do, as you realized. Who knows maybe someone will hit high MPGs here and SCORE into the 600+ CMax Club as well....after all, 3.5.1 and the upcoming update should see a nice increase in the MPGs and where once everyone was scared at 570miles, they may be sitting more pretty with more gas at the next 570 miles ;) :judge: .....Nope :finger: can't accept retro or old achievements, gotta be FRESH AS A BREEZE.....Post #1 :rtfm:

:congrats: 1st in the Club :)

You know, its about time you got a HeatShield, damn better sight than a colader...lol...put some fuzzy dice over that and that might make it more visually pleasing... :bee:
