Temps in the San Fernando valley easily do 95+. Its been sweltering her and thank goodness I finished my 800 tank before this heat wave hit...been sweating like a dog lately. So Matt...why bother with the lower grill cover than, 1/3 seems almost a waste of the effort for the return? I got my own grill cover, its been gathering dust and not even used at all...the temps here is not that cold. Plus...been trying to figure how to secure it safely to the stock grill since it has channels in it, not condusive to ordinary double sided tap/velcro. If anyone got any ideas, let me know. I can drill some holes and just plastic tie it but its ugly as pos if I did that. Also, sounds like I need :airquote: some air going to the centre as well based on what Matt has said....

:future: Good theory but no, its not downhill overall. One is a short but steep hill near my home about 400 yards, then I have a about 1.5 mile of rolling uphill/downhill and the rest of flat valley driving with its various upslope/downslope nuances. I am very good at picking up the downslope nuances. I get about 72MPG to work and coming back is about 55MPG with an average around 64MPGs but now that these drives to work is starting to show the 80s instead, I dunno...could be time for another BIG run...which by the way I have been :airquote: fanging so I'll be lucky to get 600 this tank... :rockon: I can't explain this one this morning... Another PB, beat the ole mark by 0.9 MPG aka 1 less squirt on the gas and this with the tank 1/3 full. Interestingly, this one has less EV. If these to-work numbers continue to hold true for my work runs, the next big 800+ run could potentially beat the 850 mark. This subtle differences means the WORLD with these long tanks, jus gotta MAXIMIZE it.

At least 80K to 100K, a few more years and see what comes out.

Thanks for the links salsaguy. Yeah, too bad this car was not available when I was buying but it's was a bit out of our price range, even now especially with a $1,500+ 240V kit. I think I made a good decision for my regular CMax as a long haul vehicle though and now that I have my work route set, it's like 0.26 gas for a 21.4 mile trip, for 75+mpg which is ridiculous. yeah, yeah..i still get my 36mpg when I fang. I took a look at the forum, its a mess. Sure makes me cherish this site.

Ouch, sorry to hear that mate. well...welcome back...we missed ya but we had A LOT of excitement here as well. Yeah, same here...anything with more than 50% freeway will kill the MPG. Now if you can get a lot of 55mph highway, that may work...but the real strength of the car is definitely way low at the 35-45mph zone. That I know. Hey did u get the 3.5.1 update?

ST...I dunno...u could be right...that would make it very interesting. Its interesting that its in the actual Rose Bowl itself...they must hve the car park staked out with the tracks and if its the Rose Bowl, there will be tons of people...not "limited". I got 36.6MPG driving from Woodley Lakes back to San Fernando via the 405 at more than the speed...AC was full blast, 2 mountain bikes and a wifey (ONLY reason the AC was on). Stobro - any mention of the temps? Seems to me, ths is one area that appearts to lack any description in their report and that probably lead to poor MPGs for the CMax & FFH - now, I don't subsribe to them (nor do I intend to since this debacle).
