  1. Well, here I am again... 2014 C-MAX purchased last September. The Ford dealer replaced the DC-DC converter back in December. We thought we were good to go. No trouble for 6 months. But, this morning, the car would not start. Same symtoms as ever. Put the glovebox jumper pack on it and it started right up. What to do? How to document this properly? I did not call roadiside assistance becuase I cannot afford to wait for them and be late to work. Is there any value in calling them now, after the fact to log the event? Have there been any new developments since december? We only have 4700 miles on this car. The chafe problem addressed by TSB 14-0155 doesn't seem likely. Maybe the DC-DC converter is going bad again. -BGarr
  2. Okay, I got our C-MAX back from the dealer after a week in the shop. They replaced the DC/DC converter. They had trouble procuring the part. I don't have the paperwork yet to see if they applied any TSBs or updated any software. I will post here when I have more information.
  3. I think the voltage showing was just the jumper voltage. The battery was dead as a doornail. Car: CMAX SE, only option is winter package. 1600 miles purchased in September 2014, Built in April 2014. Conditions that might pertain: Driven on wet roads before being parked in the garage. Remote locked twice so the horn beeped. Gas tank 3/4 full. Synced to an iPhone for the first time.
  4. I just sent our 2014 CMAX to the dealer on a ramp truck. Our battery died for the third time in the two months since we bought it. The first time, I jumped it with a big sealed lead-acid jumper battery that we had on hand. The second time, I used one of those cute little jumper/usb/flashlight things from amazon. Started right up both times. Today, the little glove box jumper would get the engine started but the engine would die again as soon as I removed the jumper. The voltmeter I have in the power point socket showed that the battery was not charging when the engine was running. I don't have a regular battery charger or I would have taken the battery out to charge it. I thought I had things covered when I put the little jumper pack in the glove box. Guess not. BTW, I would not fool around with connecting or disconnecting the battery with the car running. I think that kind of thing could cause destructive electrical transients. This car is vastly complicated and I'm not sure it is well protected from unusual electrical conditions.
  5. Joining the chorus... We have a 2014 CMAX SE, bought two months ago. 1600 miles. The battery just ran down last night for the third time. The first two times I was able to jump it. This time, the battery wont take a charge. I think it is damaged. I just sent it to the dealer on a ramp truck. This on a brand new car... I am pretty easy going and understand that things happen. But this problem has been dogging the CMAX's for at least a year. If the dealer cannot solve the problem I will have to start the lemon law process to return this car. I come from a Ford family. My father retired from Ford in Dearborn. But this is not cool.
  6. Maybe time to add more months to the poll? Our C-MAX was built in April. We bought it in August and just had our first (and only, I hope) dead battery event. Too bad Ford didn't get to the bottom of this before they built this one in April 2014 and especially before they sold it in August 2014. Love the C-MAX but I'm not sure how long I want to carry a jumper battery around in the back.
  7. First dead battery today at 531 miles/3weeks ownership. I jumped it and it started right up. As per others, radio and climate controls came on even though they had been off. Center clock cant be set.
