  1. I just started having this same issue with the Stop Safely Now message. First time was last week and the second time was tonight. After driving for about an hour the ICE would stop and dash warning would come on. I pulled over to the side of the road and pressed Engine Stop button and then opened the door to completely turn everything off. It would restart again and run fine. But now I’m worried it will shut off again during rush hour traffic. I have a OBDLink II scanner but it shows no codes. This makes me think it is not a logic problem and that it is mechanical. Maybe something is overheating and causing an electrical open circuit. 2014 Cmax Hybrid SEL 125k miles.
  2. I bought my 2014 CMAX SEL March 2017 with less than 16K miles. The rear rotors had rust and scaring from underutilization. The pad contact was probably 40%. In March 2020 it failed the annual Virginia Safety Inspection because of the rear rotors. I argued with the technician that it has been that way since I bought it and it has passed inspection before. He showed me the regulation in the VA Code book and there was nothing he could do but fail it. So, at 75k miles I replaced the rear rotors and pads. I figured I got away with it for 3 years and now I had optimum braking performance. Today I have 122k miles on the front brakes and they still look new.
  3. Thanks to all for the postings above. A couple months ago, my 2014 CMAX had the same issue. I tried to fix it myself but ended up going to a body shop for the repair. They billed me 6 hours of labor. I thought it was too much but now this problem is behind me. If the passenger door has this problem, I'll shop around for a better quote.
