  1. CAR SEATS Any good chiropractor will tell you that sitting in a car seat your butt and knee should be the same level or your butt a little higher to avoid back pain -Sciatica inflammation. Once inflamed it is very difficult to sit in a back pitched car seat for long periods of time. Pitched seats can also irritate the Piriformis muscle that runs from your lower back through your butt and to your leg. I had to sell my Prius as the seat was pitched back with no adjustments and there was no way my butt and knee were on the same level. I'm tall and the C Max was the only seat that allowed adjustment to sit with my butt and knee level.
  2. Hi the reason I bought the CMAX was for the seating position. My Chiropractor i have lower back pain as well, says that your knees must be lower than your butt. I am a tall guy and these seats took all that driving back pain away. I drove many miles and could still walk in the CMAX. The Prius seat was a back breaker good for only10 minutes. Try that
  3. One of the reasons i bought the CMax was the seating position. My Dr told me that your knee should be lower than your butt for the most comfortable position for your back lower back and posture. I tend to take my foot of the gas a lot of the time to put it into electric mode but I can adjust the seat so there is not pain anywhere. I am a tall guy with long legs and my prior Prius was killing my back and legs due to the bad seating position
  4. Hi my radio is doing the same thing - not shutting off with just the drivers door all other doors will shut it off I believe it is the drivers door latch that is the problem. It is intermittent mostly cold weather causes the no shut down. Took it to the dealer and they had no reports on the Ford hot line. But a couple of Google searches finds this latch has been an issue with other fords and MFT. Am going back to the dealer when it never shuts off with the drivers door latch. In the mean time i just open the passenger door to shut the radio off. june 2017 After doing more investigation I have found that the relay R8 for ignition has been a problem. part number 9l2Z14n089A that fails. I replaced it and the problem went away. I would be ironic that a $20 part made in Italy fails and takes down the entire C max brand for dead batteries.
  5. Thanks that is great information. I can see it clearly. The hose is off one side or almost. Is this a DYI or take it in for service with the manifold in the way? I am replacing it because it is on the list after 100K
  6. Hi I need to change the PCV valve on my 2013 C-Max with 125k I bought the valve but it does not look like what i think is the original. I have searched and searched and have not found any pictures of the PCV on the motor or how to change it. Can someone enlighten me as i think this is really simple. I have attached a couple of pictures as reference. The new valve is pictured. Thanks I know the motor is very dirty any suggestions? I hate putting a pressure washer into all the electrical connections.
  7. I had the same learning curve. The EMPOWER gauge shows you when battery only is being used. Set that up on the left and watch that as you drive let up on the accelerator a lot to put it into electric only and learn how to keep it in the electric mode the longest by controlling how hard you accelerate. I get over 50mpg most of the time but you have to pay attention to the gauge and your ankle will get a workout sometimes. The car learns how you drive after 1000 miles and will get it
  8. I believe Ford does not make as much money on the C Max as they do other cars so it is not to their advantage to sell more of them infavor of other similar styled gas engine only vehicles
  9. Given the selection of hybrid cars the C Max is the clear top choice even with the small percentage that are having issues. The battery issues if further investigation was done would most likely lead to human error. They have programmed a lot of lights and interior screens to come on when the doors are opened and i mean a lot of power must be drained as you keep the doors open and do not start the vehicle, They do shut off automatically but it takes time. At any rate I owned a Prius for 8 years and got amazing 50 mpg but the car was painful to drive. I am 6'4" and even with the seat extender there was no comfortable position for long road trips. The C Max has the most comfortable seats for long distances. If you ask any chiropractor they will tell you the knees should be lower than the butt to keep pressure off the lower back. Very few cars are designed with seats that do not put added pressure on your lower back. All these fancy seats can not be raised high enough to make your thigh level while driving. Also the Prius was noisy, slow and driving it was totally unappealing, It was very low maintenance with the exception the HV battery failed. This was covered under warranty but another 5k miles and I would have paid $4000. No car is without issues I just love the C Max interior the exterior is rather odd looking IMO. Why not take some ques from the BMW suv design? Driving the C Max for best MPG takes some learning as you have to lift off the accelerator to get the electric to engage. Once you get acquainted with the gauge that tells you when and how much to use the accelerator your mileage will go up. I am not sure why Ford did not design the computer to automatically engage the electric as it does with the Eco cruise as you drive along and have enough battery? The car will pay for itself in gas saving and paying an additional $200 a year if fuel cost well out weighs the benefits.
