  1. I agree with wamba2000. We test drove the Prius V a couple of times. I think once you have owned the C-Max it would be hard to be happy with the Prius V. It comes across as not nearly as nice with things like the interior upholstery, the material on the dash, the seat comfort is much less, the pep and pick up is not there. But it is a fine family vehicle--just does not have the refinement of the C-Max. It is almost like driving a cheap rental car versus driving a more expensive car. My husband almost went for it until we drove the C-Max and then you really notice the differences.
  2. I like that channel too Ponypower. I like channel 32 "the Bridge" also. And Fifties on 5.
  3. Me too Rachel! When I am not sobbing along with the rockabilly singers, I am singing Christmas carols with channel 17 LOL.
  4. My husband had a Merkur too! He loved it. His was red and very luxurious for its day. The only reason he traded it in was to buy a van as we bought a little farm and a cottage at the lake. We had two big Newfoundland dogs then and we needed space to transport them when we went up to the Harrison Lake with them. The one Newfie was a character and true to his nature i.e. rescuing swimmers that were drowning. He drove us nuts as he would leap into the lake when the neighbour kids were swimming and grab them by the arm and drag them to shore. When they were screaming in fun, he thought they needed rescuing. His name was Bear and was a huge galoot who was known far and wide for his antics. I miss the boy.
  5. I use it all the time going down hills for regenerating the battery. I always shut it off after as way back when someone gave the rationale for turning it off when not using it for the designed purpose. I've searched and can't find the cited reference when the discussion took place many months ago. There was a thread about this when a couple of us forgot and left it on after going down the hills. I'll keep looking.
  6. Today on the way to my swim aquasize class, I had Sirius Willie's Roadhouse on and heard this song for the first time. It has to be a real feminist anthem if I ever heard one. I giggled all the way to the pool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jacIVSuA0Ys
  7. Primarily I worry about trade-in value as hubby tends to switch cars every couple of years. I really like the car, but he just thinks it is okay so I imagine next year he will want something else that catches his fancy. I don't want to lose our shirts over the C-Max. And already I get frustrated at the dealership as they seem so uninformed about the C-Max so heaven help us if it is discontinued. And I like to blend into the crowd and it would be nice to see an occasional C-Max. We have seen one other in the past year of ownership.
  8. Paul that is great news! I don't want to own an Edsel. My husband wasn't super keen when we bought the C-Max and if it got dropped he would not let me forget that it was my choice.
  9. I've had that sinking feeling for months that they plan on dropping the C-Max. Only 900 sold in all of Canada. Going into the dealership feels like something is going on as they don't even mention the C-Max or ask how we are enjoying it etc. It is like they won't even look at us when our car comes up in discussion--yet they are friendly in general over other issues. It leaves us with a feeling that they know something that we don't know. We're in big Prius country here on the South Coast of BC so something is rotten in Denmark. One thing that really worries me is that they stopped production between Oct.28 and Dec.16th. I am perplexed with the concept of delaying the 2014 cars like they have done. Most dealers have the 2014's out. And if production is delayed until Dec.16th, to me that indicates we won't see any 2014's until the end of January as production shuts down over Christmas too. It all seems odd. I hope I am wrong and they are planning a huge campaign to flog the 2014 cars. Edit: I see I am wrong as in another thread they say the 2014's started in production on Dec.1st. Hooray!!!
  10. Ryan I think it seems okay now--very similar to working like it did before the upgrade. We were reluctant to take it in for the MFT upgrade as it was perfect before. I just hope we don't have any more recalls in the near future. Our car is basically problem free so I don't like them monkeying around and spoiling things. They took almost 3 days with that MFT upgrade that was so disappointing. Supposedly that was to take 3 or 4 hours. Yes, I am tracking the weather as they say 0 C for most of next week with possibly -8 at night. We have Anna's Hummingbirds year round so it is a huge task to keep their nectar unfrozen during these cold snaps. I am going to go look for an outside warming lamp tomorrow to put up near one of the feeders under the house overhang --so they can go there if it gets too deadly cold for them.
  11. My husband did the reset today and it seems to have improved things greatly. He says it was quite painless really. Before he started the reset, he deleted the paired up phones, he pulled out the nav. card, he deleted sync from the phones, and he recommends keeping the engine running as the accessory mode shuts down too fast to complete the job. Then he pushed the button to do the master reset and it went blank for awhile, the radio stopped and things went totally dead. Big sync sign came on with system update written on it. He then shoved in the nav. card and it took awhile for the nav. card to figure things out, then the Sirius radio started its demo mode. Then he then went into the system to reset all his preferences as everything was erased such as preset radio stations, all the nav. favourites, home address etc. He then paired the phones using Bluetooth to the system, he went in and started fiddling with all the setting i.e. system loudness, home address, and he started re-entering favourites. Voice recognition is 75% improved other than using the command "navigation, destination, POI". That seems a weak link. However the command "navigation, destination, address" works flawlessly. The detail and colour of the maps looks totally different for our maps. I think our voice recognition is back! We love that feature and it was buggered before the reset. All is right with the world--so far.
  12. Beautifully written Adair. Your warm heart and generous spirit are so evident with what you write. Happy American Thanksgiving to all, and Happy Hannukkah too. We had our Thanksgiving last month, but I am sorely tempted to make another turkey dinner on Sunday. Yum.
  13. Have a safe and enjoyable trip. Your mileage is stellar. We live in a very mild winter climate with rain and temps usually in the 40's F (Pacific Northwest) and our average winter mileage is about 35 mpg.
  14. Salman such good news, but I agree sad that it didn't work out because of issues with the car. Soon you can look forward to another car that is reliable for you.
  15. jmckinley it would be easier for all of us if they would give us a little quick reference handbook for MFT or email owners with info on the new stuff. Since we got the upgrade in mid October, I keep seeing all sorts of new things that surprise me each time they pop up.
  16. http://www.capebretonpost.com/Business/2013-11-26/article-3502387/Ford-recalls-Escape-SUVs-again-to-fix-oil-and-fuel-leaks/1 Quality assurance seems to be a Ford problem of late. We have the C-Max battery problems and the Ford Escape ongoing problems. Not enough supervisors?
  17. Ours has gone down in the past month. Right now it's about $1.24 per liter/about $6.00 an Imperial gallon. It was about 10 cents a gallon higher a month ago.
  18. Wab we'll let you know. Hubby is procrastinating due to the re-programming stuff. He'll get to it this week and I'll report back.
  19. Cheque for $895 arrived just a few minutes ago via Fedex courier service. Yay! Off to renew car insurance shortly. I am in BC Lower Mainland with last name starting with C.
  20. Thanks Doc that relieves my mind on that score. We will try John Triggers master reset etc. later on.
  21. www.syncmyride.com says we have 3.6.2. installed on Oct.17, 2013. We went from 3.1.3 installed at the factory one year before at the factory. No mention of 3.5.1 (or was it 3.5.2?) ever being installed. Is that okay i.e. going from 3.1.3 directly to 3.6.2? Maybe that is the usual way.
  22. Lots of good comments about using voice commands. But we were real pro's with the voice and did have it all figured out. Now it is wonky and does not recognize much of anything. Wab I did try saying 1 instead of line 1. I find all sorts of odd things come up on the screen now and I am frequently getting the whole thing freezing with "paused" on the lower left displayed. It is like is has just gone crazy. I am hoping it will just straighten itself out somehow. Tomorrow I will do as Dr.Diesel suggested and confirm what version they actually installed. Maybe we should pull the SD card too and put it back in.
  23. Adair thought it was her Southern drawl and Dave it didn't recognize your voice with numb mouth. Ours used to recognize what we were saying and now it is so bad that I want to scream at it. It recognizes nothing. I will then spell the city for example and after it comes up on the list when I say "line one" it won't recognize that and up will pop another list. It is just terrible. It's like they made it worse and not better. Time for letter to Ford I guess.
  24. Adair I was going to reply to what you wrote, but it turned into one big whine LOL. So I will re-group and hope that Dr. Diesel is right that things will get fixed down the road.
  25. Oh dear. I wish it could go back to the way it was before! It worked like a charm . So it doesn't sound like it is worth a trip in to the dealer. Darn this is disappointing.
