  1. I don't know what to think any more. Only 900 C-Maxes have been sold in Canada so far which is shocking to me. I don't know what will happen with the C-Max here in the future, but it isn't looking good from what I can see. Three at our dealership a year ago and two remain unsold. A very perplexing situation.
  2. Sadly it seems to be an either or situation. You have a reliable good running vehicle or you got unlucky and have an unreliable one. I feel lucky that we got a good one (knocking on wood of course).
  3. Seaswirl welcome aboard! We have had our C-Max for nearly a year and still haven't put 5,000 miles on her yet LOL. So we aren't broken in yet. Don't worry too much about how to drive the car and like Jus says don't get consumed with watching the gauges as that can be so distracting and dangerous. Anticipating braking and braking evenly is the important element as it regenerates your battery. You will find as you read here and then try out some recommendations it will all fall into place. Mileage is affected by so many things i.e. climate outside, use of air conditioning in the car, and even buying snow tires and putting them on it. We have some super mileage trips and some jaw dropping awful ones--the awful ones are generally related to outside temps and the car taking a long time to warm up (even though ours lives in a garage). Rain, wind, sleet all affect the mileage but don't get all fixated on it. I go through phases when I am cheesed at the poor mileage, but it soon passes as the C-Max is a lovely little car. However, I must say I fell in love with the Ford Flex when they gave me one as a loaner. Ugly as sin but oh my was it ever comfortable and rather funky. Don't think I would ever buy one due to its looks but I had fun driving it.
  4. We had the "No Signal" message when we picked up our C-Max after the upgrades on Oct.16th. I ignored it as the music was playing just fine and the message was gone the next day.
  5. I carry my fob with my keys on it, but I only have two keys as we have keyless entry to our house and garage. My fob with my keys is in my small little purse and sits in a separate compartment from the other junk so it is somewhat protected. Nearly a year of doing it this way and no mysterious window opening etc. Make sure your fob has its keys inside as ours came without and had to be ordered.
  6. No cheques on the West Coast yet, and no delivery of a keg or two of maple syrup either.
  7. Frank I am getting used to the sound and feel of the snow tires. Makes the C-Max drive a bit like a Jeep which is okay for winter. Hubby thought the sound deadening might kick in, but that doesn't seem to be happening. One quirky thing I am noticing is that EV+ is coming on at random moments--not at any spots that I frequent. Also this seems a little weird too my cold engine mileages are not as bad as they were before getting the snow tires. I go to swim every morning and normally I get about 16-19 L per 100 kilometers on the way and about 11 L coming back (only about 8 kilometers to the pool). Today I got 11 L going and 6.4 L coming home, and temperature was lower today with fog --about 4-5 C. PS What does sipe my tires mean? We take Tip in next Wednesday for all the recalls so do I have to leave a sign on my car seat saying "do not sipe my tires" ? LOL PPS I did look up sipe. Interesting, but sounds primitive and dicey thing to do. I won't let them sipe my tires!
  8. Nick you make good points. Practice, observe and abort if necessary. I know in the beginning I whipped in too fast a couple of times and scared myself silly--sort of uncontrolled and not enough brake.
  9. I have looked at incidents of fender benders with park assist and it seems that they are saying if you don't apply enough braking it is feasible to have a fender bender. They are saying that strong brake control is necessary with consistent steady application throughout the maneuver is required.i.e. you are to back EXTREMELY slowly with foot on brake at all times. It implies that if you wind up with fender damage you were going too fast and the computer doesn't have time to process the calculations required. Zalusky we haven't had any trouble getting out of the tight spots--once again it takes patience though.
  10. Time for a celebration! :love_shower: :love_shower: Where is the selfie Rachel? LOL Did she remember you?
  11. When I booked for the recalls to happen next week, the customer service rep said the computer says cheques will be mailed out mid October.
  12. We will need a "selfie" as you drive away LOL. Fingers crossed that things tick along now.
  13. The only thing to do is to take it to the dealership. We have park assist with no problems. I did google for any other incidents with park assist and couldn't find anything. I know it seems capable of parking in freakishly small spots. I assume you were parking on a one way street to wind up with damage on the driver's front fender? Sorry for all the trouble this causes you.
  14. I bought the Mighty Jump from the Shopping Channel. Turns out it has dreadful reviews,, but I think that is because people are using it for a different purpose than we would use it. Knock on wood we have not needed to use it.
