Finkins I knew when I read the title that this would be an unhappy story. But I am glad you are not hurt. Did your airbags deploy? Welcome to the forum. We were on the Island in August for a bit of a holiday. Nice to have the peace and quiet that you all have versus the hub bub of the Lower Mainland.

Love it Nick!

Adair thanks! I'm sure Tip will come out okay. Should be interesting though

I just booked Tip in for her first big upgrade servicing. We have not done any upgrades as everything worked just fine. So I held my nose and booked her. The service representative said that the computer says that Canadian C-Maxers will start getting our cheques for $895 beginning October 15th. She said all the upgrades i.e. MFT, tailgate, power train etc would take half a day. I snorted and giggled and suggested she book a loaner for me as people on the C-Max forum have had more than a few glitches. She giggled too and said the loaner sounded a good idea then. $20 a day for the loaner. So October 16th is our date to have Tip re-programed. I hope I don't get a rogue C-Max back.LOL She reassured me that a computer whiz would be working that day.

Or the system has gone wonky.

LW we have Ice Storm for our colour so that wasn't us. However we do go up and down Hwy.15 lots of times. The panorama roof doesn't need a recall. Just the nav system and the power train upgrades to improve mileage. I'll post after we get ours done. I need to book us in pretty soon. Supposedly we can use our salesman's demo if we coordinate things with him as no free loaners for servicing are provided.

Welcome LW. We are in South Surrey too. Have you had your updates done yet? We have had our C-Max since last November. We haven't done the upgrades yet. We are waiting for our October check up and will do everything then. We are apprehensive about the updates as everything works well now and we fear screwing things up. We will have our servicing done in Langley where we bought our car.

Only 1000 sold in Canada in the last 14 months

I live in a very mild climate (Canada is like the States with climates that differ from what part you live in) and this area is pretty much a clone of Seattle weather but maybe a little milder. So I don't believe climate has been a factor. I will tend to go with Ron's thoughts. 2013 was the test and the marketing blitz will happen in 2014 once all the kinks are out. That makes a lot of sense to me. Because I found it bizarre to see C-Maxes sitting on dealer lots for months here --unbought and unadvertised. -

Adair I find it all so puzzling. We have lovely cars that are unique. I talk mine up all the time. An older couple was asking me about it the other day. The fellow had a stroke and I pointed out how easy it is to get in and out without whacking your head and how you can pull a wheelchair up close because the door opens wide and how high you are seated. They were impressed and said they had never heard of the C-Max, but would go look at one and try it. -

Hey Nick and Karin I think you two are going to have to come and have coffee with us the next time you are here. That may be our only chance to see a C-Max other than our own LOL. We will be expecting you next time you are up--just pm me before and I will give you our address and phone number. We are close to Morgan Creek golf course --sort of mid way between White Rock beach and Crescent Beach. -

I don't know the official name, but I call it the mea culpa mileage rebate. In Canada we will get $895 from Ford Canada because the 4.2 or 4.7 (can't remember which) mileage was not a reality. So they are giving us money to ease the pain. I'm not sure why we are getting more than the owner's in the States, but maybe because the mileage claims were more outrageous or our gas prices are so high? -

Zhack I think it is going to take a hockey stick! Yes, we see Prius's all over the place. Tons of Prius taxi cabs and even the Prius V taxis all over the place. Yes I see lots of Fusions, but not so much the Fusion Hybrid, and of course lots of Ford pickup trucks. I think it all comes down to lack of advertising. None zip! Recently one Ford dealer has a C-Max in his ads for employee discounts, but that is actually the first newspaper ad we have seen for the C-Max. My husband comments about the lack of advertising all the time. We have had a couple of people ask about our car--wondering what it is as they have never heard of it. Gotta wonder why they aren't advertising here. -
I was looking around on the internet to try to find out when Canadian C-Max owners will get our rebate cheques. No information on that other than we will be getting $895 and the fact that there have only been 1000 C-Maxes sold since July 2012. We have 10 provinces and 2 territories so that explains why we have only seen one other C-Max in the wild since buying ours. 1000 sure is a small number eh? I was shocked. I love our C-Max, but II still think that we bought an Edsel LOL. I see on the Canadian dealer inventory all of the 2013's are marked down about $3,000 from when we bought. I will remain happy as long it continues to run well.

Good grief! What a bad experience. I hope you are enjoying the west coast though? I am waving to you from a little north of Seattle i.e. White Rock, B.C

Shelly that story has a happy ending, but so many similar ones don't. Good that you stopped and stayed with the police officer for awhile. Glad he came out uninjured.

Adair the summer is always filled with activities for all of us. You are doing a fine job. No need to apologize! Jus is young and strong he can handle us --we haven't been up to much mischief lately.
-
Good post Nick. We don't obsess about the mileage on those real short hops, but at the time we have been known to gasp as it is so bad LOL. It all comes out in the wash. In the summer our mileage can stink due to air conditioning and in the winter it can stink due to the cold, but that is the nature of the hybrid.

tmbeck68 there have been a couple of other owners post the same as your experience, but the majority seem to have had improvement. We bought in November 2012 and haven't had the PCM upgrade yet. Our mileage is not nearly as good as yours was i.e. 5.4 L/100km. We will take ours in next month and hope they don't make it worse. We love our car and the only complaint is the terrible in town mileage. It truly can be dreadful for our short little hops ie. 9.8 L etc Supposedly the C-Max is better in town than highway but you can't prove that with us. With our way of driving it i.e. six blocks here, 30 blocks there etc., we would have done better with an Energi.
-
Gregg I have never heard of an auto shut off with our cars. Can you tell me about the feature and where you read about it? Thanks.
-
We have had the SEL 303 package since last November. Have not gone in for any upgrades yet and we love our MFT navigation etc. Works very well, and I am dragging my heels about the upgrades as everything on our car is great. Only negative is mileage is not as advertised--in particular city driving is poor compared to highway for us. Maybe the power train upgrade that we will do next month will help that.
-
I will do some testing when I am not rushing around and need a fast route. It seems that I am always in a hurry LOL.
-
When navigation asks "nearby or in the city? " what are the distance parameters for nearby? i.e. can I say nearby if I am 10 miles away from my POI? Or it is a very small distance like 10 blocks? I ask this because I frequently go into another suburb called Surrey and our voice recognition just does not recognize that word when we say it so it would be great to use nearby instead of saying Surrey. I wind up having to spell it which is a pain in the butt.

That was pretty cool Joe! If Canada ever gets the feature on Sirius, I will know about the icons. -
Weather Map - Amazing Discovery!
Laurel replied to jmckinley's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Joe I found this for the weather map --someone wrote this on another forum. "I figured out what the icons on the weather map are this morning (or more accurately, how to find out what they mean). You can press the icon and the system refocuses the map to be centered on the icon and a box shows up on the right hand side of the screen that says "INFO" and if you touch that it shows what it means. For example, the dark blue circles with the white circles inside means "HAIL" along with information on when it was observed and where it is heading." Don't know if it works since we don't get the weather map, but you can give it a try. -
I am surprised at the number of white Boxers in our neighbourhood. I think there are at least 3. We have one senior one who is brown. In my youth, I never saw white ones. We had a Boxer when I was a child and she was very good natured.
