Salsaguy I apologize for sounding snotty about Canada. I know you were trying to help. I'm thin skinned over some things and shouldn't be. -
Can you talk with the manager and light a fire under him?

The car is nice. The dealership who sold the car is not service oriented. Tried another one closer by and it was even worse. And we aren't alone obviously when you read the forum. Lots of dealerships have soured many on the car. I remember test driving every hybrid made by Toyota and didn't like any, but oh my did I love the dealership as they were very professional and very kind. Both hubby and I felt guilty for not buying from Toyota LOL. Wish I can say one good thing about Ford experience --other than the car is nice but not the company representatives. Thus couldn't and wouldn't recommend them to anyone else and would never buy from them again. Hubby wants to run screaming back to Lexus and likely will. -

Living in Canada isn't code for living at the North Pole! I live in a very mild climate --rarely gets below 32 F in the winter here and average is probably about 45-50 F in the winter. I was commenting on our mileage being high in town because it takes so long to warm up the engine (even in the summer). We just went for a little picnic and temp is 25 C (in the high 70's F) and our mileage was 9. 2 L going down to the ocean where we had the picnic. Coming back it was 4.2 L. We researched our C-Max pretty darned thoroughly before buying, but I believe people who sell the cars need to know something about them too. We have been happy with our car. But the thing that I am most unhappy about is this latest rebate issue. The reputation of the car is now damaged severely and heaven help us get a decent trade in for it down the road. The C-Max has not sold well in my part of Canada and I joked that I felt like we were driving an Edsel, and I have to think that my joke is no longer a joke but the way it is going to be. I like my car, but in all honesty I would not repeat the purchase if I could go back. There are far too many negatives and unknowns at this time. -

Temperature may not be lower in Canada as it is dependent on what part of the country you live in--just like the States. I suspect the biggest number of C-Maxes sold would be in the more temperate climates like Vancouver and Vancouver Island versus places with extreme cold like Saskatchewan. I'm in Vancouver and it is a very mild climate--similar to Seattle. However, fuel is very high priced in many provinces (Alberta may be an exception). Our local gas station has regular at 145.9 per liter. So we are $5.83 for an imperial gallon. I think the higher rebate is likely due to high gas prices in Canada. -

We get our worst mileage in town and our best on the highway. It takes a lot to warm up the car and we can do 2 or 3 legs of in town driving and the mileage is horrifying i.e. 14 L, 9. 8 L etc. When the engine gets warm it will drop into the 4.2 -4.8 L range, but often we only do the short trip and never make it to the warm up phase. Our highway mileage is consistently 5.3 L. Probably the Energi would have been better for us as by the time we warm up the car we are home and it is parked in the garage for another day. LOL. So the sales people need to be really clear on the parameters of driving the car as I can see mega problems with customers like us who do very little driving feeling the car is misrepresented. We don't feel upset by this, but I think many would. And they need to address using air conditioning and cold outside temperatures, both of which affect mileage drastically, to potential buyers. -
Oh my! Drive by your dealership later today and check. I did that with mine and there she sat.

It's odd, but I feel kind of sad about this. Nice to get $550, but Ford will take a bashing for this. I guess I am not surprised after the Kia situation which was similar. -
My dealer refuses to install MFT 3.51 or 3.62 updates
Laurel replied to spkehl's topic in General Discussion
I'm not impressed. But I have not been impressed whenever I have asked our dealership questions. There is more information on this forum than I have ever received at the dealership. I think it is only once that I have walked away from the dealership and not felt pissed off. I am not sure how Ford can keep tabs on their dealerships and make sure they don't mar Ford's reputation further. -
My dealer refuses to install MFT 3.51 or 3.62 updates
Laurel replied to spkehl's topic in General Discussion
Spkehl you might want to email a Ford customer service person. I haven't done any updates on our SEL yet (waiting for October servicing to do everything), but I did have trouble with our dealership over them saying none of the updates were showing on their computer. They were quite curt and unhelpful saying I would get a letter notifying me and they could do nothing until then. I emailed Ford Canada including my VIN and explained the situation to them. Someone wrote back saying my car was due for all the updates (just as I thought) and if I had anymore trouble to have the dealership contact him and he left contact info. In the mean time I did get two letters for the MFT 3.5.1 and the hands free lift gate upgrade. However, about two weeks ago I stopped in to ask the dealership whether they had any info about doing the fuel economy upgrade on my car. I think my VIN got flagged or something as they rattled off all the upgrades including the power train one and were very forth coming. This was totally different from their usual answers to my questions. So I did have the impression that emailing Ford Canada lit a fire under their butts. Worth trying the same thing only using the US Ford site. -
I think I got that message about customer location, and then later in the day when I checked again there was no info. on my rail car at all. So I think if you suddenly have no info. available that is the best indicator that it has been picked up by a truck.
-
I remember having a similar message and my car was here the next day. So I think that is a good message--might even mean that the customer location is a truck picking it up.

Adair great photo! The times are a changin'. Remember all those old beater cars that we grew up with and now we are trying so hard to go green.

I was wondering how far it was from Albuquerque to El Paso so I googled and they say 3 hours and 43 minutes so that is not very far at all. Much closer than I had envisioned.

What a nice review. Welcome to the forum. Let us know how your 800 mile trip goes.

It sure is poking along. But that seems normal as I remember our C-Max sat somewhere around Tacoma, Washington for several days and then all of a sudden it was at the dealership in Vancouver, BC. I kept looking at the tracking and it seemed like the last notation was Tacoma and then things happened that weren't noted on the train tracking site.

Another problem. Don't buy a CMax: Broken hatch latch
Laurel replied to valkraider's topic in General Discussion
Val we were just kicking in our 2 cents, but none of us have been in your shoes. I think you have been a huge C-Max advocate and you wouldn't throw in the towel without being pushed to your limit. I just wondered how much crappy dealerships affected the outcome. -
Remember to post him a picture of Vader. He seems to really appreciate it when people do that and many don't bother. He seems a hard working fellow.

Slampro I just noticed that you posted on the Blue Oval trying to get an update from Cyberdman. The reason he didn't reply was you need to put your VIN with every update request or he won't respond. He wasn't ignoring you--just hoping you would clue in and add the VIN. He is stubborn about that.

Cassidy every time I read the heading for your thread I think to myself "wonder what Cassidy found two of when he opened his hood?" Sort of akin to Jus' thread about finding a green bug after opening his hood (or bonnet as he would call it). LOL
-
Now calm now LOL. Let them have enough time to do their clean up and prepping. You don't want to bug them and find that they have hurried through checking for any boo boos. We are waiting for the first picture.
-
Getting closer. Should be there by mid week I would think. Vader sounds good.

This is a nice story and paints a cool picture i.e. father and daughter with C-Maxes. Congratulations! We have one other father daughter pair on the forum and that is Rachel in Louisiana.
