Another problem. Don't buy a CMax: Broken hatch latch
Laurel replied to valkraider's topic in General Discussion
Val maybe I am all wet, but it seems like crappy dealerships in Porltand is the real problem versus crappy car. -
Renting Prius for Work Trip - Going to Compare
Laurel replied to nsteblay's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the comparison. Basically it is what we experienced during our test drives with Prius and C-Max. Other than our mileage is not great with the C-Max ie. lifetime 5.4 L. -
Just bought used C-Max what updates are needed.
Laurel replied to spkehl's topic in General Discussion
Congratulation Stephen. I hope you got a good deal on price etc. You will need the MFT 3.5.1 and the 3.6. You will need the power train update. You will need the hands free liftgate update. We bought our SEL in November and it has worked out just fine. I haven't been in for any of the upgrades yet as I am waiting for my October servicing, and I figured the local dealership needed to practice on others before I go in. The service dept. representative should find all of those upgrades when he runs your VIN when you phone to book. -
Congratulations! I think the Energi is a great car and with hindsight we would have bought one. I think "wonky" will become your new normal. It is all in adjusting to how to say the commands and giving the system enough time to process things.
-
MadManMoon that is great news. We will be waiting for pictures. Aren't you going to cruise by the dealership tonight and try to catch a peek? We did that when we got word that our C-Max was ready. I'm surprised the Mounties weren't called with us stalking the dealer's lot and the straining to see in the showroom windows. LOL
-
Welcome Mike! I am a little behind on my reading on the forum so I have a question for you and Adair. I am not getting my MFT upgrade until I go in for servicing in October. So are you saying that with the 3.6 you install it yourselves? If so, how? I realize I will have to wait until I get the 3.5.1 before getting the 3.6.

Slampro are you going to name your car?
-
I did mention it to our service person and he seemed puzzled and then scanned the computer, and said "oh you mean the power train update. Yes you can schedule for that anytime you like." So maybe if we call it the power train update they will know what we are talking about.
-
Great news slampro. What do they make in Battlecreek--seems to me it is famous for something?? Cereal? Your new C-Max will be home before you know it.

TRADED IN THE CMAX FOR A PRIUS AFTER 10 MONTHS
Laurel replied to MADCMAX's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Adair maybe you could please close this thread? Our forum has never had any ugliness before and it would be nice to keep it that way. I am shocked and thought what was written was a joke at first. -

TRADED IN THE CMAX FOR A PRIUS AFTER 10 MONTHS
Laurel replied to MADCMAX's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Best of luck with your new Prius. Life is too short to not move on when things don't sit right with you. Don't disappear MadCMax! Give us some comparisons down the road as it will be interesting since you can really lend credence to the pro's and cons. -
MadManMoon keep posting the journey as I really enjoy reading about it. I remember being surprised at how few miles a day the train covered while I tracked our C-Max, but the turtle wins the race.

That is wonderful news Adair. I'm sure Jelly is going to be lonesome without his Aliens, but he'll settle in and bond with you.

Hum-m-m offers to teach the wife sounds like waving a red flag at a bull to me. I know smoke will come out my ears with those kind of offers over the years from my husband. Somehow it always comes out sounding patronizing and then the fight is on LOL.

It is frustrating MadManMoon, but soon it will be a distant memory. I found the dealership did not give us much info. unless we threw a hissy fit. Once my car was on the train, I started having fun until something happened to the rail car outside of Tacoma (it was broken down and had to be moved to another car and I never got the new number) and I lost track of it for a few days. Then voila she was in Vancouver! I'm not sure why the dealers don't understand how much good publicity they would get if they were helpful with the tracking of our cars. They are callous and oblivious about the tracking issues from my experience.

Having been married over 40 years and having just returned from a one week holiday with stinky mileage when hubby drives, do not say one word about mileage. It is not worth it to even discuss it.

Wow this is good news. Now that you have the rail car number you can follow it home. In case you haven't found a site that shows how to track your truck by rail...here you go . Provided many months ago by our own Scooter S. "First you will need the rail car letters and numbers. It is on the visibility report or DORA which is from the dealership. You MAY be able to get it from the SVT people but they seem often in a cranky mood and may tell you to get it from the dealer. Mine was two letters and 6 numbers from what I remember. There are two major rail companies. CSX is everything east of the mississippi UP is everything west of the mississippi But they all start out on CSX so once they have it in their system they will follow it all the way. So, how do you track your truck on a railcar? First and most important. Never talk to live personnel at the railroad! Only use automated phone system. If it attempts to transfer you to a live person please hang up. The railcar information we are provided by is given as a courtesy and if we call live personnel we may lose the access and ability to track. CSX 1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352 2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location. 3. When prompted for the car initials, say CN (or whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt. 4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 (or whatever your number is) 5. When prompted for next car say DONE. 6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report. Union Pacific 1. Call UP at 1 800 877-5123 1 800 877-5123 2. Follow phone prompts for Trace 3. Say the railcar number complete and clearly. Example CN123456 all together 4. Listen for your update These automated systems can be frustrating. Keep in mind they are intended for use by folks that use them daily all day long. Like I said if you are being transferred to a live person please hang up and try again.

Congratulations tocoty! Welcome to the forum. You'll love your car. We are pleased with ours.

MadManMoon I did read where it is supposedly sitting, but I think there is a possibility that it is actually back at the plant being upgraded without them adding that to the tracking inventory list. I think they have to hold their cards close to their chests with situations like this for fear of bad publicity that will snowball. Yes, it would be great if they better communication with the customer and leveled with them, but that is not how these big corporations work.
-
We special ordered last Fall and it took in total about 7 weeks. I suspect that the delays are due to recalls of various issues and the cars are being pulled back in to upgrade them. I doubt whether they would note this on the tracking as it would yield bad publicity. If so that is a pain in the butt, but at least all the necessary upgrades will be done for your car. It would not be seen as a good thing to deliver a new car and have it recalled a week later.
