Ford to Offer Free Updates to Boost Hybrid Vehicle Efficiency
Tom replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
"• Optimizing the climate control system to minimize use of the air conditioning compressor and reduce the energy used in cold weather operation" Can this modification cause inside moisture problems when using the defroster to keep the windshield clean? -
Gosh, you have my sympathy. Keep us informed.
-
I'm inclined to be very careful here. I got 55 MPG on my trip back from the Skyline Drive over the weekend with AC going the whole time. I want to see what the downside is to these modifications before I take the plunge.

Yes, full sized. Thanks for your input.

Brake light lens -- bug in it!
Tom replied to Tom's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Well that probably explains it. Thanks. -
Before I bought my C-Max, I was looking at the Cadillac ATS which has run flats. I checked with the local tire dealer I do business with and was told by two of their technicians that run flats are s _ _ t. I pass this experience along for consideration.

I bought a new, full sized tire for a spare. When I have my tires rotated, I intend to put the spare on the ground and make one of my on-road tires the new spare. Any suggestions as to placement of the new tire among the other on-road tires?

Brake light lens -- bug in it!

No, I've been waiting for feedback from my post. However, If we both have experienced this issue, perhaps there is an opening somewhere that needs attention? -
I was washing my C-Max this weekend and got up close & personal as they say -- to discover a dead bug inside my rear tail light assembly. No problem other than wondering if it also indicates an opening that unwanted water may enter? Any intelligence on this will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Question regarding overriding the park interlock for towing.
Tom replied to Instr-Tech's topic in General Discussion
Okay and thanks for the clarification. -
I'm not sure what that is, so I guess I'm not.
-
Do you know that Ford is working on this?
-
Yes. I have an SE with the basic radio. I keep losing my presets also. Anyone find a solution?

You guys have lost me here. What problem/issue are you trying to fix? -
I've had the same experience.

Tuxedo Black in North Carolina

I had to look up Kannapolis, NC. I should expect to see a number of C-Maxes in the Charlotte area? -
Since there seems to be an improvement after break-in, the 2012s should be doing better right now. Better to ask this question several months from now.

What cool hidden feature have you discovered about your C-Max?
Tom replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
Be aware that the adjustment also controls how much air comes out of the the top-facing center vents. I try to balance them. -

I use it for a temporary holding place i.e. my clip-on sunglasses when I enter a dark parking garage, etc. -
For those familiar with the Washington, DC larger area, this will be more meaningful. I went from my home in Bethesda, Md. to the Skyline Drive and back. Got 55+ and 54+ MPG on each of two of my longest trip segments.

Before I bought my C-Max, I had a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora with leather seats and trim. I used Meguiar's leather treatment twice a year -- spring and fall. When I got the C-Max, and after 150,000 miles in the weather, the Aurora's seats were still like new.

Now I hear leaf / AC fan noise. Any suggestions about a clean out?
-
My guess is that battery drain is how you get to a dead 12 V. So not having a drain would perhaps save you from an unexpected dead battery. But I'm no engineer.
