Welcome Yippie! -
Boooooooogus. The seat heaters work the same with the climate system turned off as they do with the climate system at any on setting.

Spare Tire Solution for C-Max Hybrid.
DaveofDurham replied to Roger Eastman's topic in Wheels & Tires
If they were REALLy helpful, they would have taken a wheel (w tire) off a new C-Max on the lot and put it on your car. Or let you take the wheel (w tire) to a tire shop to have the tire put on your wheel - they could have put a new tire on the wheel from the car on the lot later. -

Take the C-Max 1,000 mile mpg challenge
DaveofDurham replied to DaveofDurham's topic in Fuel Mileage
Keep going, step-by-step, each step taking you half way between where you are and 1,000mpg - you will eventually get there. -

It's not a picture of any of our 2013 North American C-Max hybrid or energi models, but it may be a C-Max (or Focus C-Max) somewhere and some time ago. If you click to enlarge the picture it does appear to have a C-Max nameplate on the bottom left of the hatch. The C-Max name has been used by Ford since 2003. The vehicle exterior has been redesigned twice since the original. So sloppy work by the photo editor for the news article and perhaps the driver's mpg problem is that they have an old, non-hybrid C-Max - or more likely cold winter weather, short trips and lack of hybrid driving skills.

I'm looking forward to taking my C-Max up and down that hill (and then maybe driving the regular roads to Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway back to Asheville). We have enjoyed that section of I-40 with different cars over the past 35 years. Going up and down in our 2000 Honda Insight was particularly enjoyable.

That's progress. Hope you are back in the driver's seat of your new new C-Max soon. -
I had no idea the video would appear in my post. I thought just the link would appear. Who knew? I should have read the manual.

When the 600 mile club badges are presented, I suggest that "Running on Empty" by Jackson Browne be played VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJYRtOPUonA LYRICS - http://www.lyricsfreak.com/j/jackson+browne/running+on+empty_20068510.html and all the medalists join in on the chorus - Running on-running on empty Running on-running blind Running on-running into the sun But I'm running behind

Great ideas posted in this thread. There is an earlier thread on this topic titled: "Improve the CMax? Your thoughts..." Started by Jus-A-CMax, Feb 01 2013 02:05 AM. This thread was started in anticipation of the Irvine event and had 72 thoughtful replies.

Stupid drunk driver - didn't listen to the messages about Peace and Love AND about NOT drinking and driving. -
What mpg can you maintain over 1,000 miles? Here's my first try. I know I can do better (curse you couple of lingering cold days in the past three weeks) and so can you. Post your results. 1,001.4 miles, 544.0 EV miles, 21.95 gallons gas, 45.6mpg [Disclosure - I started out trying to see if I could get a 600 mile tank. I was not interested in running my tank down to near empty or in carrying extra gas in my car, so I filled up at a little over 500 miles but did not reset the trip odometer. When I posted my result of 13.39 gallons for 614 miles (346.5 EV miles) at 45.8mpg on the 600 mile CMax Club thread, the Chief Empty Tank Line Judge (aka Jus-A-Cmax) threw down his penalty marker and gave me an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. I argued that I deserved extra credit because with my fill-up a little past the 500 mile mark I drove the last 100 miles with an extra 60 pounds of fuel mass, but the replay judge (is that you Adair?) ignored my plea. Lucky for me I didn't get a red card. I was still in the game and just let the trip odometer keep going until it got to 1,000 miles.]

Some info. from Ford Canada on 3.5.1 update

Thanks. Very informative post. -
Let us know when your C-Max takes you to NC. I went somewhat in the opposite direction. I grew up in NY. After a stop for graduate school in Ann Arbor, I moved to Durham. Both of my sons went to UNC so I keep getting mail from Chapel Hill Alcatrão! . . . Calcanhares! [That's Tar! . . . Heels! in Portuguese]

I'll post a message asking all the NC members to say hi. I'm looking forward to driving mine up to Asheville and back down again. That was always fun in our 2000 Honda Insight.
