  1. JPD Fantastic news! Where are you located (city, state)?
  2. I prefer ecocruise. I have also noticed that sometimes I turn on cruise control and it is not in ecocruise mode even though I feel certain it was in ecocruise last time I used it and I didn't turn ecocruise off.
  3. I think it would be a good idea to test the key blades to make sure they work - especially if they were cut at the dealer. In addition, I wonder if it would be a good idea to use the key blade every few months to make sure it still works and maybe lubricate the lock cylinders too. Or maybe since they are very rarely used the lock cylinders will remain as good as new for the life of the vehicle. I would hate to be unable to unlock with the key blade if I ever need to.
  4. Maybe I missed it, but has there been data collected (e.g., a survey on this board) on the vehicles that have had 12v battery problems. For example: SE, SEL or Energi; accessory package 200A, 201A, 202A or 203A OR 300A, 301A, 302A or 303A; days/weeks from purchase to first occurrence; miles to first occurrence; other problems before first time battery dies; etc.?
  5. When you got the "stop safely now" message and went to the dealer did they get a problem code on their diagnostic computer?
  6. Maybe the C-Max does that too? When I saw the passenger seat heater was on, I just turned it off. I didn't feel the seat to see if it was hot.
  7. Just went out by myself to run a few errands. After driving for about 20 minutes, I noticed that the front passenger seat heater had not been turned off during or at the end of our last drive. How about tying the passenger seat heater to the same sensor that deactivates the front passenger seat airbags when the front passenger seat is unoccupied? No passenger in front passenger seat, no power drawn by front passenger seat heater even if the switch is not at zero.
  8. All our emergency keys are present and accounted for. Thanks for the heads up.
  9. Active grill shutter discussion starts at 44:25 Before I saw this video, I drove about 80 miles today in eco cruise at 62mph. I guess the grill shutters were closed some or all of the time while I was doing this. I need to try a highway route at 55 mph and at 62 mph and see if there is an mpg difference. He didn't say closed shutters were bad for aerodynamics at lower speeds (he just said they didn't help much at lower speeds), so why not enable or direct the shutters to close at other times such as cold start?
  10. Do the WeatherTech digital floors mats do a good job of collecting pine needles, or will lots of pine needles sneak their way under the WeatherTech's?
  11. We have on Oxford White in Durham NC. We liked some of the other colors (both no extra charge colors and extra charge colors) but we didn't want to pay the extra $'s for an exterior color and Oxford White was the first available (dealer trade with a dealer in VA) no extra charge color that we liked.
  12. Thanks for the tip. I have not used a message board like this for a long time and had no inkling that this feature existed.
  13. That (running in 4 degree weather) is dedication!
  14. For long threads how about a way to switch the order of the posts so the most recent comes up first, rather than having to scroll to the bottom of the first page and then select the last page.
  15. For the hybrid (not Energi) C-Max - How having all favorites entered in the nav system automatically trigger EV+ mode or a way to for me to select EV+ mode when I am almost at my destination (even if I am not using the nav system to get there). After 6 weeks my only recognized EV+ destination is home even though I have some places I go to 4 or 5 times every week. I second previous comments about fabric and leather seats. We wanted the SEL for the back-up camera but would have preferred fabric seats.
  16. Get rid of the shiny (chrome like) trim on the steering wheel, instrument panel and console. The reflection is sometimes blinding and the image of the heat/AC trim in the outside driver side mirror all day long is annoying and distracting. A lot of effort goes into making the instrument panel non-reflective, why mess that up with lots of shiny trim? More adjustability for the front passenger seat. Improve the owners manual. The layout, presentation and index are awful. Want info on how to use cruise control? Don't try to find it by looking in the index. Make mpg a standard rather than enhanced part of the trip odometers. Get rid of elapsed trip drive trip if needed to make space. Make mpg show up on the trip odometers when they are selected in My View. Add miles to appear with avg mpg so we know how many miles the avg mpg is being calculated over. More options for the display to the right side of the speedometer. The leaves outlived their usefulness and novelty in less than five minutes. Let me display something useful in this space the 99.999% of the time that I am not using it to set something in entertainment, navigation, etc. Make a space and tie down for an optional spare tire, jack and tools - so I can stow them safely if I decide I want them in my vehicle for trips to the middle of nowhere.
  17. I don't think the laws of physics are a problem here. In valkraider's message, it said " You can actually provide enough juice to wake the electronics with just the 12v adapters in the car itself..." If the 12v battery is dead and the hybrid battery has power, and if the hybrid battery is the source of power (and I do not know if it is) for the 12v outlet and other accessories, then in theory you could get energy from the hybrid battery through the 12v outlet to the 12v battery to give the 12v battery a jump, Here's what I can't figure out. I don't think the 12v outlet is hot (energized) when the car is totally off. The car needs to either be started or put in accessory mode to energize the 12v outlet. The car can't be started if the 12v battery is dead (that's the problem we are trying to overcome). In order to turn the car on you without trying to start it (get car in accessory mode) you need to press the start button without your foot on the brake or turn the key to accessory position, but if the 12v battery is dead I don't know if accessories will be energized when you press the start button without your foot on the brake or turn the key to accessory position. I defer to someone who knows more about how these aspects of the C-Max function or someone who
  18. I totally agree - in most cases driving 10-15mph below the speed limit could be extremely unwise, hazardous and dangerous. I wasn't counting, but I think only about 10 vehicles passed me during the 27miles/30 minutes of my driving 55mph on a 70mph stretch of highway.
  19. Are you saying that if the 12 volt battery is depleted to the point where you can't start the car and the hybrid battery has power that you could make a connection from the 12v adapter in the car to the under the hood terminals for the 12 volt battery and use power from the hybrid battery routed through the 12 v adapter in the car to jump the 12 battery?
  20. >>>Jus- A-CMax said: Sweet, sweet, sweet its nice to see all those EV miles. Engine is not even fully broken in yet, makes this even better. Also, imo, the 45-55 is a sweet spot for our EV and if you can go along that route as versus one that forces you to 70+mph, take that anyday. As I posted prior, sacrifice time for the mileage. Hell, if we needed fast, we all could have gotten the Focus ST instead of the CMax.>>> It was the same route both ways. We were on a schedule going down so I took advantage of the 70mph speed limit when I had it and tried not to pay attention to my mpg for the trip taking a dive. On the way back we had plenty of time and there was no traffic, so we took it slower (55mph) in the 70mph area and enjoyed the 6 extra minutes of driving and much better mpg.
  21. Driving home from Carthage NC to Durham NC - 61.1 miles @ 54.6 mpg with 34.5 ev miles. 72 degrees F. No wind. First 5 miles mostly at 45 mph. Then about 35 miles at 55-57 mph in eco cruise and the last 20 miles mostly at 45-55 mph (cruise off). [For comparison - on the way to Carthage, I did 27 of the 35 miles at 70 mph (that's the speed limit for the US 1 portion of this trip) and the Durham to Carthage mpg was in the low 40's.]
  22. Thanks for the link. My electronic window sticker says 120121113 so I will wish my C-Max a happy birthday on November 13th. I wonder what the 11 07 12 at the bottom of my hard copy window sticker means?
  23. EV+ recognizes my home, but has not yet recognized anywhere else. If I add a location as a favorite destination in the navigation system will that automatically make it an EV+ destination. I think that would be a good feature if it not already built into the system.
