  1. Maybe your original premise is the problem. I have a 2016 Hybrid SEL 66000 mi. original battery. I noticed the time between pressing the engine off button, and when the system would power down (w/o opening doors) was getting shorter. Was about 10 min. in past but now just over 3 min. Dealer load tested battery and CCA was low. I had it replaced. Now I worry less about yellow wrenches and I think the shutdown interval is a good indicator.
  2. This leaf thread has been going for over 7 years, so I might as well concur that I've been pulling stuff out of there since I've owned my Cmax - '16 sel - mine since April '17. We (mostly) love our comfortable, economical cars, but this is one of the little flaws - a design compromise, I think - that keep us (somewhat) humble.
  3. The site looks like 2020 hit it right in the ECM with a Covid algorithm. Apparently you can still use the site, post, discuss this weird (not weird for 2020 and 2021 so far) situation. My Cmax is running just fine 'cept for a few minor issues. I'm in Winter mode, which means i don't give a poop about mpg, but like to get into a warmed up car. Dash Mileage goes from 42.4 down below 40 but I don't care as long as my windshield's clear and my buns are toasty. I actually average about 44 mpg during summer. Ignore the spam. Post around it. Now, if I could figure out why my power driver's seat fuse keeps blowing.... And who does own this site?
  4. Hi Jay Good choice! I own a 2016 SEL with about 58000 on the odo. Me and my wife Love the car. They had most of the kinks worked out by the '16 model year. Happy driving and infrequent stops at the pump. BTW I also find that using Cruise a lot does get me in EV mode easier.
  5. I have a '16 SEL also and the autowipers work fine. frequency/sensitivity is adjustable using the intermittent control. I've never found anything in the menu tree about the wipers.
  6. Welcome renergi, hope you like your 2017 as much as i do my 2016 Hybrid SEL. Many of us were afraid we'd lose this resource awhile ago, but luckily it's back and it's really useful. My Cmax is perfect for me and my wife. Enjoy and Happy New Year/Cmax.
  7. Welcome pmtiny! I have a 2016 Cmax (SEL with the 302A option package) and I'm VERY happy with the car overall. It's true you get better MPG in city driving, but there are many other reasons to consider buying one. High riding position with great visibility, really good interior quality and also comfortable and very quiet inside. As stated above, consider only the 2015 or later models - they got most of the bugs out by then. I have only had one incidence where the vehicle's software had a hiccup and the instruments indicated a problem with a wrench icon and told me to "STOP SAFELY NOW". This was completely fixed after a trip to the dealer and covered under warranty. 30,000 more miles and problem has not repeated. There are a couple things that are bothersome about the car: NO spare tire! NO jack!. The manual doesn't even give jacking instructions, although there are two tiny triangles on the rocker panel that indicate safe jacking points. There is an air compressor/sealer kit under the passenger seat that might take care of minor tire punctures. Also, the car's turning radius is a bit wider than most cars this size, so you may find yourself executing more "K" turns and fewer "U" turns in tight spots., and if you get one with the "Panoramic" moon roof, it's great but doesn't open - fixed glass (but the powered shade for the roof is pretty cool and essential in hot, sunny weather). Also, this is my first car that I'm not doing my own oil changes on...there's a 12 bolt panel underneath that has to be removed for drain/filter access. I'm retired now and am happy to let the Ford dealer do it. My last two trips to the dealer were under $100 so pretty happy. Here in Ohio, you'll see about 1-2 Cmax-es for every 50 Ford Escapes. Most people are not even aware this car exists - "...it's a Ford what..?", but after a recent trip in British Columbia (not driving the Cmax), I noticed that, Canadians being on average a bit more intelligent than Americans, they have a much higher percentage of them on the road up there! ....(could be the legal weed....) Anyhow, I would buy another one of these cars in a heartbeat, but I'm saving up for a Tesla because Gull wing doors and Ludicrous mode!
  8. Never seen that on my 2016. Did it stay on forever or eventually turn off?
  9. Been awhile since your post, but my driver side turn bulb stopped working, or worked very intermittently starting a few days ago. Difficult to get to as the headlamp ass'y would not come out. Managed to replace it and now working but I noticed the burn marks on one contact (betcha that one goes to the turn signal filament) as you had. Looks like maybe it's arcing and melting the plastic enough to partially cover the contact. Both filaments in my old bulb still work fine, but I guess you can anticipate additional failures...I will theorize that this happens when you have the emergency blinkers on for awhile, so the arcing at the contact gets hot enough to melt the plastic. The Sylvania bulbs come in two-packs....got a spare for next time.
  10. Why are posts riddled with links that click thru to commercial sites? And why does it still say "you" not "your" in that header?
  11. hmm..i'll have to adjust my lumbar support and see if it heats up..may have missed it or not working.
  12. and dammit, there should be a Back heater too - my ass is warm "butt" my back is cold. IMHO
  13. I'm having a different experience in my '16 SEL. Normally turn it between 3 & 4 and it heats up nicely in about a minute. Then I usually turn it Off. The nice level of heat lingers long enough until the heat gets going. I can see from experimentation though that it would quickly get way too hot at that setting if left on.
  14. Welcome, C-MaxA2 I also have a 2016 (SEL Ruby Red metallic) and love it. Bought in March 2017 and I paid $19500. Sounds like you got a great deal but hard to believe the car only had just over 2000 on it. Mine had 22,300 on it and was also a fleet car. Whenever I take it to local Ford dealer for general service, they don't explicitly say anything about upgrading the Sync software, but it appears they do. First time I took it in, I was having an issue where it would go into "limp" mode (wrench service symbol on dash and car still runs but won't perform correctly). Turning the CMax off and back on would fix it for awhile. Dealer said it was a "throttle body" problem and replaced that under warranty. Haven't seen the problem since then. Took it in again six months later and had just routine ("The Works" - $40 with coupon they sent me) service. Didn't say anything about upgrading software. Later noticed that I now had an "EV+" mode it would go into when approaching a frequent destination. I'm pretty sure it didn't do that before that trip to the dealer. "EV+" mode doesn't seem very useful anyway. My wife and I think this is the perfect car for us, being in our late 60's. High roof, ease of entry and exit, comfort and good climate control. Worst feature in my opinion is the "Panoramic fixed roof" (not sure if your SE has this option) because it doesn't actually open. Also no spare or jack kinda freaked me out at first. Still, we really like the CMax, and I average about 44mpg, but it still has plenty of power for passing and accelerating onto highway. Hope you enjoy driving yours!
  15. One local Ford dealer actually mentioned Cmax'es available in their TV ad in my town just a few days ago. You never hear that anymore, so I was surprised. I see about ONE other Cmax to about 100 Escapes around here, but strangely enough, there's a family right around the corner with an Energi (mine's standard Hybrid) in the same color as mine (Ruby Red metallic). Also our local Bus transit authority has re-branded some services, and is using the name "C-max" prominently on the bus stop shelters they've built.
